Artist's Statement:
I made this piece in my sketchbook.
The idea was to create a work of art inspired by 2 historical artists. I chose Magritte, a surrealist painter known for birds and clouds as subjects, and Van Gogh, for his unique brush stroke style.
I made a sketch of what I wanted the subject to be and did some experimentation with materials before settling on colored pencils.
The art developed to be influenced by more than just 2 historical artists: I ended up using an almost Monet color palette, and some of my forms became reminiscent of the Sistine chapel's Creation Of Eve. I also decided to lose the curtain, retaining just the pure window frame.
