Tucker Coleman Papers

in SWEM Collection at the College of William and Mary, Williambsburg, VA

St. George Tucker (1752–1827) was an attorney who practiced in several Virginia counties, including Prince George. Many of his legal papers are in the Tucker Coleman Papers, held by the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. I ordered digital copies from the College of William and Mary (Tucker Coleman Papers, Series 3, Box 15, Folders #4 and #5),received in a 61 page PDF file. Most of the info does not pertain to the Womack family, but is very likely of genealogical interest to others. Note that Abraham Womack was alive on 31 Mar 1773, but dead by 12 Mar 1776. He left a will, not extant, because Elizabeth & Miles Womack were his executors, not his administrators. Elizabeth was Elizabeth Wallace Womack, Abraham's widow, and the daughter of Michael Wallace. Miles Womack was likely their son.

Abates by Return. P Geo.

p.57/61 - Bill of Complaint, undated, Prince George Co, Miles Wormack Executor of Abraham Wormack deceased, complains of John Tewell in Custody. Francis Holland, Holland's debt to Abraham dated 31 Mar 1773 at Bristol Parish, Prince George Co, of #17/3/0, did pledge a negro boy called Davey to said Abraham Wormack. [Goes on for 3 pages, apparently Holland neither paid his debt nor delivered the slave, now in custody of John Tewell, Miles Wormack sues for 100 pounds.] Signed Tucker Esqr. Pr Geor. Wormack vs John Tewell, debt.
