Sheppard Family

John Sheppard and his wife Elizabeth LNU of Moore Co, NC and Marion Co, GA had two daughters who married men named William Womack, probably first cousins. John Sheppard lived in the part of Marion Co, GA which became Chattahoochee Co, GA.

I John Sheppart of the State of Georgia and County of Marion do make and publish this my last will and testament making and making void all former wills by me at any time hereafter made.

First I direct my Burial expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon after my decease as possible; and as such worldly estate as hath pleased God to intrust me with I dispose of as follows.

First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Shepperd my lot of land my household and kitchen furniture my stock of hogs and cattle during her natural life and at her death my desire is that my daughter Susan Sheppert have my land and what may remain unconsumed of my stock of all kinds and two feather beds and furniture. I also give to my daughter Susan Shepperd one horse bridal and saddle my will is that my son Samuel Sheppard have one feather Bed and furniture at the the death of his mother. I give to my son Andrew M Sheppard the sum of two dollars to my daughter Mary Thomas I give two dollars to my daughter Sarah Davis I give two dollars I give two dollars to my son John Sheppard to my daughter Nancy Womack I give two dollars I give two dollars to my daughter Elisebeth Womack I give two dollars to my daughter Nelly Sheppard I give two dollars I do hereby make and ordain my son Andrew M Sheppard Executor of this my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I set my hand and seal this the first day of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty two.

The book "The Georgia Frontier: Revolutionary War families to the mid-1800s, Vol 2", p.308 by Jeannette Holland Austin lists full dates of birth for all children of John Sheppard and his wife Elizabeth of Marion/Chattahoochee Co, GA. This information must come from a family Bible, but it is not documented. If anyone knows of this Bible record, please let me know.

Will Book 2:154 Nuncupuative will of Asa Shepherd, abstract: 21 Aug 1836, William Taylor & Samuel C Oliver witnesses, Asa Shepherd, on 21 Aug 1836, the day before he died, directed all his property at Taylor's house, including a gold watch, horse to sister Nelly Shepherd after debts and funeral expenses. The balance of his estate "to be equally divided between two children named after him." Sworn in open court 19 Sep 1836.
