See Henrico records for an image if the will. Note that the middle part of the page rotted away. Below, I have tried to transcribe the will as it actually appears. Sections of "______" indicate the middle of the page that rotted away. The word "[ill]" is used for illegible sections. I have bolded names of people.

Note that other transcriptions of this will have inserted words that simply don't exist in the original.

p.392, 8 Apr 1720. I rose about 6 o'clock and read nothing but gave several orders. I said my prayers, and had milk for breakfast. The weather was cold and clear, the wind northwest. About 9 o'clock we rode to Kensington, which plantation I found in good order and all the people well, thank God. From thence we returned direct to Falling Creek, where I stayed about half an hour and then went away to return home and Major Mumford and Parson Robinson went with me as far as Abraham Womack's and there I took leave of them and went to Colonel Hill's, whom I found indisposed with the gout. Here I drank some tea and then took leave and returned home where I found all well, thank God. I received a letter from Hal Harrison by which I learned his family was very sick. I ate some milk and about nine retired and said my prayers.

The will of William Hambleton, dated 27 Nov 1778, Cumberland Co, VA WB 2:250 (Image 403/543) mentions several children including a son named "John Mosby Hambleton".

Martha Womack Mosby Hambleton was the ancestor of Edward Pleasants Valentine (1864 - 1908), who commissioned the Edward Pleasants Valentine Papers, which includes valuable research on the early Womack family. Edward Pleasants Valentine is sometimes confused with his uncle, the sculptor Edward Virginius Valentine.

Edward Pleasants Valentine's line of descent

    • Mann Satterwhite Valentine (1824 - 1892) and Anna Maria Gray (1836 - 1873), parents of Edward Pleasants Valentine.

  • Mann Satterwhite Valentine (1786 - 1865) and Elizabeth Mosby (1801 - 1872)
