So, Isham had 3 entries, one each on Sandy Creek, 2nd fork of Birches Creek (Birch Creek on modern maps), and Polecat Creek. He was never granted any of these entries; perhaps he could not afford the survey, and he sold his entries to others. He appears to have lived on the 400 acre entry on Polecat Creek, and he split that 400 acres with Charles Cawthon. This 400 acres was part of a 6200 acre patent to Paulin Anderson, Richard Anderson & John Watkins, who later sold 200 acres each to Isham Womack & Charles Cawthon in consecutive deeds in 1760. The deeds make clear that Isham Womack and Charles Cawthon already lived on the land and had split the 400 acres with a dividing line they had agreed upon. Paulin Anderson, Richard Anderson & John Watkins also sold part of the 6200 acres to William Echols.

See in Trace Plotter. With North at the top of the survey, it make more sense. The red closure line is Broad River, so it is really much more to the West of the river than the south. With the help of other patents, I placed this patent in modern Cherokee Co, SC, less than a mile south of where Interstate 85 crosses Broad River. More info below. Note that this patent was granted by North Carolina, due to a border dispute between the Carolinas. When the border was properly surveyed in 1772, many NC grants, including this one, were found to be in SC.
