Isle of Wight County

Court records other than wills and deeds are generally missing for the period William Womack was in Isle of Wight Co, from circa 1725 to 1749, when the area Willliam lived became Southampton Co. There was an Order Book 1693-5, but then extant Order Books don't start again until 1746. William Womack lived in a corner of Isle of Wight Co, near the junction with Brunswick and Surry (Sussex after 1756). This isolated area may be another reason he does not appear often in Isle of Wight records.

OB 1746-1752:17 (Film # 008359382, img 24) - Isle of Wight Co Court - 14 May 1747 - Last will and testament of William Cocksey, presented, John Cocksy, executor, proved: John Nanny and Peter Vasser, appraisers: Harmon Read, William Lee, William Womack and Robert Lundy or any three.

OB 1746-1752:90 (Film # 008359382, img 62) - Isle of Wight Co Court 12 May 1748 - Robert Adams appointed Administrator of David Adams deceased. Estate to be appraised by William Lee, Hermon Lee [sic, Harmon Read is meant], Edward Lundy, William Wammock, or any three of them.

WB 7:260-297 (img 440) 6 May 1763 - Account of William Scott. [He must have been a merchant since his account is about 37 pages long and mentions several dozen people, in different counties, including Isle of Wight, Southampton & Nansemond.]

VA PB 10:259 Patent to Thomas Taylor, 23 Mar 1715, 150a in Isle of Wight north side Meherin River beg on the east side of Halls Branch. By the 1735 or earlier, this land was split between William Womack and Edward Lundy. Not currently known how/when Womack or Lundy obtained this land. See DeedMapper deeds for Southampton Co, VA.
