Note that some researchers of Jesse Harris believe he married Mary Brantley. Brantley researchers have found there was a James Brantley with wife Ruth in the area where James Womack later lived. It is very likely that James Womack's first wife was Ruth Brantley, given that James had two land patents adjacent Brantley men, plus he had children named James Brantley Womack and Ruth Womack.

OB 1784-1788:242 - [14 Dec 1786] Ruth Wommack orphan of James Wommack chose William Marks her guardian with James Brantley Wommack. [Means Ruth was under 21 but over 14, since you had to be 14 to choose your own guardian.]

DB 8:114, bill of sale, Etheldred Blake to Benjamin Blake, 13 Jan 1790. Witnessed by Wm Markes, Ruth Womack (her + mark), Rebeccah Markes (her 4 mark) [Ruth at least 14 to witness a document.]

Guadianships 1777-1810:194 - account of Polly Wommack orphan by Edwin Claud, 9 Dec 1786 thru 13 Feb 1795, mentions James B Wommack, William Marks.

Southampton Co, VA DB 19:287 - 30 Mar, 1824, Wm T Smith indebted to John Womack as guardian of orphans of David Thomas dec'd, sells to Howell Harris his half of slaves of the dower of Mary Smith formerly Womack in the personal estate of the late James B Womack; also dower slaves of William T Smith's wife Jinny [sic, Jincy] formerly Thomas of the estate of David Thomas dec'd. [This proves William T Smith married Jincy Womack after her first husband, David Thomas, died. Also, that Mary (Ellis) Womack, widow of James Brantley Womack, married a Mr Smith, which matches the 1817 marriage record of Mary Womack to Solomon Smith.]

Will of James B Wommack, WB 7:370, 4 Feb 1814, proved 20 June 1814.

In the Name of god amen, I James B Wommack of Southampton County and State of Virginia do hereby make my last will and Testament, in manner and form following that is to say -

1st I desire that as much of my perishable part of my property be immediately sold after my decease as will pay my just debts and funeral expenses. Should the perishable part of my property prove insufficient for the above purpose,then I desire that my executor hereafter named, may sell as much of my real estate as will satisfy such debts as shall remain unpaid.

2ndly After the payment of any debts and funeral expenses I lend my wife Mary Wommack all the land and plantation whereon I now live on the North Side of Cosway Branch, also I give her five negroes Namely Jacob, Abraham, Jerry, Selvy, and Airy, also my household and kitchen furniture except two feather beds and one desk also two bay mares, five choice cows and five head of sheep and two sows and pigs and Ten shoats with all the plantation utensils in During her natural Life, and after her decease, the same to my two children John Wommack and Jincy Smith to be equally divided between them except the land I lent to my wife Mary. It is my will and desire that the whole of the land and plantation may descend to my son John Wommack to him and his heirs forever.

3rdly I give to my son John Wommack two negro boys namely John and Arthur to him and his heirs forever.

4thly I give to my Daughter Jincy Smith four negroes Named Patience, Ben, Sall and Lucy to her and her heirs forever.

5thly I give to my grandson Nathan N Thomas all that land lying on the South Side of the Cosway Branch containing fifty acres by estimation be the same more or less - to him and his heirs forever.

6thly It is my will and desire that all the residue of my estate not disposed of may be equally divided between my son John Womack and Daughter Jincy Smith to them and their heirs forever.

And Lastly I do hereby Constitute and appoint my son John Wommack Executor to this my last will and Testament and further it is my will and desire that the Court may not require Security of him the executor. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th day of February 1814.

Proved by the oaths of Burkett Murrell and Robert Murrell Senr two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded - and on the motion of John Wommack the executor herein named who made oath according to law - certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form (The Court not requiring any Security as requested by said Will - whereupon &c. [apparently, the recorder of the will did not finish the legalese.]
