Henrico County after 1749

The Womacks mostly lived in the area of Henrico south of the James River, which became Chesterfield County, which was formed in 1749 from Henrico County. After 1749, Henrico County area was only north of the James River, and included the City of Richmond, which did not extend to the south side of the James River until the late 1800s.

Will of Sarah Womack (WB 8:292, LDS Film # 007676113, image 172/516) - Sarah Wamack of Henrico Co, VA "being sick" bequeath to beloved son Charles A Womack all money coming to me from my brother Edward Carter of Henrico Co, VA for my portion of land sold in Charles City Co by court order of sd county. Appoint son Charles A Womack as executor. 11 Feb 1833, signed Sarah (her X mark) Wamack. Wit. Geo A Pearce, William Marsh, John Pearce. Henrico Co, VA court 4 Mar 1833, will proved by oaths of witnesses Geo A Pearce, William Marsh, John Pearce. See certificate for claiming probate granted to Charles A Waymack p.332 and letters of administration to Spotswood F Bowles at p.493.

Will of Edward Carter (WB 10:271) Edward Carter of Henrico Co, VA. To dear wife Elizabeth Carter one-third of estate real and personal. To Philip Gentry who has been living with me since his parents died, negro boy Jim. Remainder of estate real and personal to be divided between Isham Wamack and the children of James Wamack, Philip Gentry and the 2 daughters of Nelson Butler. Appoint friend Henry Cox executor and guardian to Philip Gentry. None of the relations of Philip Gentry to have any transactions with the property I have bequeathed him. 8 Jul 1839, Edwd Carter (seal), Wit, Wm Clopton, Wm Gay, Saml Frayser. Proved 5 Aug 1839.
