License, Benjamin Warmock to Levisa Allen, 24 Sep 1823, married 25 Sep 1823 by James Calcote JP. Marriage Record Book A, p.47 (LDS Film # 007724338, image 30/839).

John Womack Origins

Appears to be identical with the John Womack with records in the 1740s in Brunswick Co, VA and Edgecombe Co, NC. In Johnston Co, NC by 1755. John Womack was the first known Womack to settle outside Virginia, and has the earliest Womack records in North Carolina.

Probably a grandson of John Womack & Mary Akins, likely through son John Jr or Richard. John was born roughly circa 1715, likely in Prince George Co, VA, and died before Oct 1764 in Johnston Co, NC.

Johnston Co, NC P&Q I:201, transcribed by Weynette Parks Haun, Oct 1764, "Hardy Saunders came into Court & pray'd for Letters of Administration on the Estate of John Womack, Dec'd granted upon giving John Harrill & John Norris security...". [Need to check original to see if John Harrill might be John Harvill/Harvell.]

Johnston Co, NC court and deed records names widow Sarah LNU, oldest son Benjamin, and minor children: P&Q I:244, July 1766, "Order'd that Supenes Issue to make the orphans of John Womack dec'd, to Wit: William, Mary, Jane, Martha, & Lucy appear at the next Court in order to be bound out agreeable to law." Wake Co, NC was formed in 1771 from the part of Johnston Co, NC where these Womacks lived, and probate continued in Wake Co: Wake County North Carolina, County Court Minutes, 1771-1784, Book 1 by Weynette Parks Haun 1993, p. (38)-44 Sept 1772, "The Court apppointed Nathan Roland Guardian to Lucey and Sarah Womack, Hardy Sanders and Turner Smith Securitys." [Thanks to researcher Jamie Fish for this record.]
