Richard Puckett records
John Puckett, son of William Puckett (B2) was the Executor of his father's will; this John Puckett was missed by Gee in her book.
John Puckett also appears to have been the executor of his brother Richard Puckett's (C8) will. Richard Puckett died at a time where we don't have regular court records or will records from Henrico Co, VA, so we don't have his will, or even when it was proved in court. But in June 1720, William Randolph sued John Puckett as Executor of the will of Richard Puckett for a debt (OB 1719-1724:30, 007898203:24).
On 5 Oct 1725, The Henrico Orphans Court - Ordered that churchwardens of Bristol Parish bind Richard Pucket orphan of Richard Pucket decd to John Pucket (Orphans:56, 007676115:251). [Note: Richard Puckett (D15) had two uncles named John Womack - his mother's brother John Puckett (C3), and his father' brother John Puckett (missed by Gee). I believe the John Puckett that Richard (D15) was bound to was his father's brother, who I believe was also the same John Puckett who was Executor of his father's will.]
3 Oct 1737 - Henry Womack v. John Pucket} Suit in Chancery. Continued at Compl. Cost. (OB 1737-1746:5, 007894525:9)
5 Dec 1737 - John Pucket presents an account of the estate of Richard Pucket decd., which is referred to John Archer Gent. to examine, and who approves the account. (OB 1737-1746:12, 007894525:13)
Dec 1737 - Account of Estate of Richard Puckett deceased presented by John Puckett (DW 1725-1737:675, 007645095:533). Mentions debts to Maj John Bolling deceased, Joshua Irby, John Peter Bondurant, Richard Kennon deceased, Edward Bass, Henry Charles Fetherston, Thomas Eldridge, George Willson [Wilkinson?], William Randolph, John Worsham Sheriff. A credit paid by Tho Wilkison. Under debits, it lists "To funeral charges" and the next line says "To Do [ditto] of Martha his wife". [Note: this appears to show that Martha Puckett, wife of Richard Puckett (C8) died soon after her husband.]
5 Dec 1737 - Henry Womeck and Martha his wife v. John Pucket Admr. of Richard Pucket} Suit in Chancery. Respondent agrees to a decree against him for £2.2.7 ½. (OB 1737-1746:14, 007894525:14) [Note: see Letter of John Lawrence - he states his grandfather was Thomas Lawrence, whose wife was Lucy Wammac (Womack), whose mother was a Puckey (Puckett, a reference to Martha Puckett, daughter of Richard Puckett (C8) and wife of Henry Womack), whose mother was the daughter of Lord Trent (this is confusion, because Martha Puckett's mother was Martha Puckett, daughter of John Puckett and Elizabeth Allen; John Lawrence was confused for Henry Womack's mother, Susannah Trent who married William Womack).]
3 Aug 1740 - John Pucket Exor. of Richard Pucket to be summoned to appear at next Court to answer the petition of Richard Pucket. (OB 1737-1746:119, 007894525:67).
1 Sep 1740 - Richard Pucket acknowledges his deed to William Pride, and Ann the wife of said Richard relinquishes her Right of Dower. (OB 1737-1746:124, 007894525:69). [Note: the record book with the actual deed is lost.]
1 Sep 1740 - Richard Pucket one of the legatees of William Pucket decd. v. John Pucket Exor. of said Decedent} Petition. Dft. ordered to present an account of the estate to the next court. (OB 1737-1746:124, 007894525:69).
6 Oct 1740 - John Pucket presents an account of the estate of Francis Westbrook decd. (OB 1737-1746:126, 007894525:70).

(OB 1737-1746:131, 007894525:73).

Amelia Co, VA tax lists, 1754 - 1782, 007856499
NOTES:
The microfilm has earlier tax lists. In 1754, Prince Edward Co, VA was created from Amelia Co, VA. Some Puckett individuals who had been in earlier Amelia tax lists were then living in Prince Edward Co. The extant lists from 1754 to 1782 list Puckett individuals, mostly Richard Puckett [Jr] and his probable sons Thomas [Hobby] Puckett, James Puckett & John Puckett.
The Abraham Puckett in 1762 and the Edward Puckett in 1769 were probably the sons of Thomas Puckett (Thomas > William > William > John). Thomas Puckett (father of Abraham & Edward) was the first cousin of Richard Puckett Jr (Richard > Richard > William > John). Abraham Puckett went back to Chesterfield Co, VA, and Edward Puckett went to Dinwiddie Co, VA (adjacent to Amelia and Chesterfield counties).
The tax lists show tithes, which were white males 16 or older, plus slaves. Slaves were listed by just first name. Richard Puckett Jr owned slaves Murrear (sometimes written as Maria) and Sambo.
We can estimate when Richard Puckett Jr's sons were born using these lists. Thomas Hobby Puckett was not on the 1757 lists (so not yet 16), but was on the 1762 list, placing his birth between 1741 - 1746. Likewise, James Puckett was not listed with his father until 1764, placing his birth about 1748. John Puckett was born about 1751.
Richard Puckett III (who married Sarah McConnico) and Jonathan Puckett (who married Mary Nelly) were also likely sons of Richard Puckett Jr. Richard III and Jonathan are not in these lists (unless Jonathan was listed as John), probably because they were not yet 16 by 1769, the last time Richard Puckett (Jr) appears. After 1769, the tax lists are incomplete or missing.
In 1777, Thomas Hobby Puckett sold the land previously owned by Richard Puckett Jr, which implies Richard Puckett Jr died without a will, and his land was inherited via the law at that time of primogeniture, meaning eldest son got the land. Primogeniture was abolished in Virginia in 1785.

Thomas Hobby Puckett gifted a slave to Elizabeth Mann and her husband Charles Mann, possibly the same as in this tax list.

Newberry Co, SC DB D:452 ( 008140761:905) - South Carolina, 96 District - 23 Dec 1776, Jonathan Pucket of Craven Co, SC, for 10 shilling, to Levi Pitts of same county, 100 acres, on Little River, bounded by land of Hamilton Murdock, Oliver Fowles, a Grant dated 12 Jan 1768. 22 Dec 1776, Jonathan Puckett and Mary Puckett his wife of Ninety Six District, SC to Levi Pitts of same for 150 pounds, 100 acres on Little River, bounded by land of Hamilton Murdock, Oliver Fowles, a Grant dated 12 Jan 1768 to Mary Nelly present wife of Jonathan Puckett. Signed Jonathan Pucket, Mary Pucket (O her mark). Witnesses William Pitts, James Motes. Proved 25 Nov 1799 by James Mote.
Thomas Hobby Puckett - son of Richard Puckett Jr - wife Mary Franklin - children - sons Joel, James, John. Daughter Agnes (married James Davis). Probable Daughter Elizabeth (married Charles Mann - see Lunenburg Co, VA DB 13:281, 008151714:161, 5 May 1779).
The Douglas Register, p.277 - Thomas Pouckeet & Mary Franklin a son named Joel born Aug. 12 1766 . Baptized Feb : 8 1767, p. 76 . The record book of Rev William Douglas, who married and baptized many people, mostly in Goochland Co, VA, but also in counties further away.
The 1787 personal tax list of Lunenburg Co, VA shows that Thomas Hobby Puckett paid tax on 26 Apr 1787, and he was the only white male in his household over 21, and Joel Puckett is listed as over 16 and under 21. Joel was born 12 Aug 1766, so he was age 20 on 26 Apr 1787. Joel did have a son named Richard Puckett, but the notion that Joel's son Richard was the Richard Puckett who fought in the Revolutionary War and married Sarah McConnico, is absurd. The Richard Puckett in the Rev War was probably Joel's uncle.
Mary Franklin Puckett, daughter of James & Agnes Franklin - both her parents left wills naming daughter Mary Puckett. James Franklin LW&T, Chesterfield Co, VA WB 3:68, dated 29 May 1776. Agnes Franklin LW&T, Chesterfield Co, VA WB 4:453, dated 25 Apr 1795. From these will records, Mary Franklin Puckett had siblings named John, James, Josiah, Joel, Ann Nunnally, Phebe Allen, Agnes Stiles, Elizabeth Franklin, Judith/Judah Cousins.
Thomas Hobby Puckett and wife Mary named their children the same names as the parents and siblings of Mary Franklin Puckett, more proof that Thomas Hobby Puckett's wife was Mary Franklin Puckett.
Note also that Mary Franklin Puckett's paternal grandfather was also named James Franklin. This James Franklin left a will (Henrico Co, VA 1744-48:202, dated 26 July 1746) naming wife Ann; sons James, Joseph & Alexander; daughters Loveday Burton, Anne Puckett, Elizabeth Jackson, Mary Jackson. It is very possible that Anne Franklin Puckett was the mother of Thomas Hobby Puckett, whose father was Richard Puckett Jr. The only record of Richard Puckett Jr's wife gives her name as Ann (Henrico Co, VA OB 1737-1746:124). This would make Thomas Hobby Puckett and Mary Franklin Puckett first cousins.
