Other Descendants:
Married Mary Akins. John's will (Wills & Deeds 1711-1725:856) names three sons, John Jr the oldest, Abraham the youngest, and William. An earlier deed (Wills & Deeds 1711-1725:152) names another son, Richard.
In John Sr's will, his son Abraham is also called Abram, a common abbreviation and nickname for Abraham, leading some to believe John had sons Abraham and Abram, but they were the same person. Note that in the Biblical story of Abraham, he was originally named Abram, until God gave him the new name of Abraham.

John Womack Jr's wife was Mary LNU (last name unknown), possibly Temple. From a Prince George deed record (Wills & Deeds 1711-1725:255), John Womack Jr sold land to Hannah Headsworth, and the deed mentions that John's wife Mary relinquished her dower. A much later John Womack left a will naming wife Hannah and minor children, and some have incorrectly interpreted this to mean John Jr married Hannah Headsworth, but his wife was Mary. Temple family researchers believe, without documentation, that Mary was Mary Temple. There is a mention of a Temple Womack in PG records.
Due to the loss of many Prince George County records, it does not appear possible to directly connect the Womacks in Prince George in the late 1700s with John Womack and Mary Akins, though there is a little doubt they were descendants. Many of John Womack's descendants with the Womack surname appear to have stayed in PG or surrounding counties and cities (Dinwiddie, Charles City, Chesterfield and cities of Petersburg and Richmond), though their presence outside PG county was minor.
The three groups of Womacks which left PG prior to 1850 were:
William Womack, son of John Womack and Mary Akins, who died circa 1778 in Halifax Co, NC; he is the common ancestor a very large group of Womacks.
John Womack of Johnston Co, NC appears to have been a grandson of John Womack and Mary Akins.
Frederick Womack/Waymack of Gallia Co, OH and Conway Co, AR appears to be a descendant.
In the late 1700s and early 1800s, there were some Womack families in and around PG, and we have tried to piece these families together here, though we may never discover exactly how they descend from John Womack and Mary Akins.
