Reece places in top 40 at Junior Olympics three-position rifle

Fairbanks’ Delaney Reece finished in the top 40 of the girls three-position competition of the USA Shooting National Junior Olympic Rifle Championships on Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Reece, the only entry from Alaska, placed 39th among 65 competitors during the event’s two days in the Olympic Training Center.

Her two-day total of 1,104 consisted of back-to-back 552 efforts on Tuesday and Wednesday. She hit 11 bulls-eyes on Tuesday and 13 on Wednesday.

Reece was among five Interior girls at the Junior Olympics, joining air rifle entries MaLinda Malefant, Amy Gentry, Chloe Allan and Katlyn Lammers of Fairbanks and Zoey Hensley of Delta Junction.

The boys air rifle and three-position competition of the Junior Olympics run April 30 to May 6.
