Nanooks put up good showing in Spain

FAIRBANKS — Alaska Nanooks shooters Ryan Anderson and Sagen Maddalena posted high scores among United States entries in their respective events at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Championships in Granada, Spain.

Anderson, a senior, and Maddalena, a redshirt freshman, were joined by juniors Tim Sherry and Lorielie Stanfield at the competition that began Sept. 6 and runs through Sept. 20.

Anderson was the top American man after compiling a total score of 623.9 for 22nd place in the 60--shot air rifle on the meet’s opening day. He is scheduled to compete today in the men’s three-position rifle.

Maddalena finished second among the U.S. women in the 40-shot air rifle, placing 33rd with a 413 total after her only event of the world championships.

Sherry is entered in the 60-shot air rifle and 60-shot prone rifle junior matches, and in the 3x40 relay. Stanfield is set to compete in the junior women’s 3x20 relay.
