Match Results for May 15th 2011

What a nice day to shoot. We had 15 shooters for the HP match and 9 for the Vintage Military Rifle Match. I’m glad to see the good turn out, but it’s still my objective to fill every firing point on the line. We seemed to have quite a few malfunctions, saved rounds, or DNF (Did Not Fire). Don’t hesitate to stop me if you have saved rounds or alibis. I have no problem running an alibi string. On the other hand, if you’ve got rifle issues I’m sure Doug will be glad to help you out.
Our summer matches are scheduled at Ft. Wainwright KD Range and our first one is Sun, 5 Jun. We’ll start at 8AM, showtime 7AM. I don’t expect any changes from last year. Drive straight to the KD range and drop your gear at the 200 yd line, then park at the 600 yd line. We’ll squad in the parking lot and go from there. These are NRA Approved matches. Entry fee is $20.
I’m planning to shoot a Vintage Military Rifle Match after the HP match on the 5th. Entry is free! We’ll shoot this from the 200 yd line and use the same course of fire we use at Eielson (Garand Match Course A) 5 sighters and 30 rnds for record.
I’d like to encourage everyone to come out and shoot at Ft. WW. We’ve had better attendance at Eielson, but in my opinion it’s more fun and challenging to shoot at the full distance. It does take a little longer and you’re out in the elements, but hey, we’re not pistol shooters. It’s my goal to start on time and finish the HP match by 1PM. Grab a friend and come on out.
