Nanooks outshot by Horned Frogs in Texas

FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Nanooks rifle dropped its first match of the season Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Nanooks, ranked No. 3 the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll, fell to Texas Christian University 4670-4663 at the TCU Rifle Range.
The Nanooks won smallbore 2,315-2,314 while the No. 6 Horned Frogs won air rifle 2,356-2,348.
Redshirt sophomore Soren Butler led the Nanooks with a 583 in smallbore and was second on the team with a 588 in air rifle. Butler’s smallbore score tied for a match-high with TCU’s Ariana Grabowski.
Freshman Luke Johnson followed Butler with a 581 in smallbore. Senior Mats Eriksson (577) and junior Lorelie Stanfield (574) rounded out the Nanooks smallbore score.
Redshirt freshman Sagen Maddalena led the Nanooks with a 597 in air rifle, tying for the match-high. TCU’s Mindy Miles also shot a 597 in air rifle.
Eriksson shot a 583 in air rifle and freshman Kasey Barnes added a 580.
The Nanooks are off until they host No. 2 Kentucky at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range on Nov. 21.
