2011 Alaska State Junior Olympic 3P Air Rifle Championship

PRELIMINARY PRECISION PROGRAM

COURSE OF FIRE:

Precision Air Rifle - one course of 3x20 (20 prone, 20 standing, 20 kneeling)

Precision Air Rifle Final – Top eight individuals, 10 shots standing

COACHING:

Precision Air Rifle - Coaching assistance on the firing line is not allowed. After sighting shots are complete and record shots have begun, shooters may not return to the sighting target.

SCORING PROTEST: A scoring protest of up to $5.00 per match or $1.00 per shot may be charged.

SQUADDING: All members of a team will be squadded on the same relay (except where team members are sharing equipment). This will allow teams to plan other activities before or after shooting. Teams and individual shooters will be seeded using the qualifying score so that the highest scoring teams and individuals from club or school qualifiers will fire on the last relay.

ELIGIBILITY:

All participants must qualify as outlined in the state guide to participate at the national level.

“Any student (no minimum age) currently enrolled in elementary, middle, high school or equivalent educational program such as home schooling (or just graduated). Teams must maintain team integrity. Teams must be made up of individuals from the same school or club.”

Seniors who have just graduated within 60 days are eligible.

All shooters must be residents of the State of Alaska .

Individuals may not participate at the state level in both the sporter and precision events.

A parent or guardian must accompany individuals under age 18.

Competitors: Each club or school may send individuals and/or four-person team(s) plus an alternate shooter for Sporter and Precision. At the national level, States are required to maintain club or scholastic team integrity. The same team may not participate in both events. State teams must comply with the “School Age Team” rule in the National Standard Rules. If the highest scoring team in the state qualifier cannot attend, the next placing team may represent the state. Teams that loose a member for some reason may replace that person with another member of the same club or school.

Coaches: Each club or school team must have a designated coach to be responsible for their team.

This person will be responsible for arranging travel for the teams and for team conduct while at the championship. Assistant coaches may attend.

Membership: 4-H Membership is required to satisfy Anchorage School District insurance requirements. Borealis Bullseyes Guest membership is $10.00 and available at the match.

Shooters need not be a member of any other organization such as USA Shooting, NRA, or CMP.

RULES: The 2010-2012 National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules will govern. The rule book may be downloaded from http://www.odcmp.com/3P/Rules.pdf

AWARDS: Individual:

The top three individuals in the Precision event will be awarded championship medals and certificates. Individuals will receive certificates for the next five places.

Teams:

The top three teams in the Precision event will be awarded championship medals and certificates. Precision teams will receive certificates for the next two places.

The top scholastic and top club team, teams scoring over 2260 and precision individuals scoring over 580 will be invited to represent Alaska at the USA Shooting National Junior Olympic Three-Position Air Rifle Championship.

RANGE LOCATION: East High School, 4025 E. Northern Lights Blvd., Anchorage, AK 99508

DIRECTIONS TO RANGE: From the Seward Highway go East on Benson Blvd. for approximately one mile. Go through the intersection with Bragaw St. in the left-hand lane and then turn left across E. Northern Lights Blvd. into the parking lot. Park in the lot on the South side of the building and enter the building through the center set of doors. The range entrance is at the end of the hallway at the bottom of the stairway.

TRAVEL: All competitors are responsible for their own travel to and from East High School.

ENTRY FEES: Individual entry fee is $25.00. Entry Forms are due by January 21, 2011. Fees are payable at match day registration.

VERY IMPORTANT

1. All competitors must be escorted by a parent or a coach when carrying a rifle/case.

2. Do not transport pellets in the same container as the rifle.

3. Transportation must be in a private vehicle. DO NOT USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

4. No equipment will be provided by East High School. All shooters must bring their own equipment.

5. Impact-resistant safety glasses are a must. Ear protection is highly recommended.

6. All participants are invited to the award ceremony. Attendance shows respect for fellow competitors.
