Hutchison Hawks have the eagle eye on rifle range

FAIRBANKS — Amy Gentry, Gabe Stutz and the Hutchison Hawks continue to shoot well on the rifle range. Gentry shot a 569 in air rifle and a 551 in smallbore to lead the Hawks past West Valley 4,352-4,051.

Gentry’s scores were tops among all shooters in both events. Stutz finished second in both events, shooting 560 in air rifle and 543 in smallbore.

Emma Daniels (551 air rifle, 539 smallbore) and Garret Snyder (531 air rifle, 508 smallbore) also shot for the Hawks.

The Wolfpack were led by Phillip Watson. He tied for first on the team with Garret Sheets by shooting a 528 in air rifle and led the team with a 538 in smallbore. Sheets shot a 489 in smallbore.

Quetzel Luebeke-Laroque shot 514 in air rifle and a 499 in smallbore. Cassie Populsen shot 445 in air rifle and Connor Soden shot a 510 in smallbore.

Lathrop shoots past North Pole

Led by new personal bests from Liam Eberhart and Patrick Kasey, the Lathrop Malemutes shot past North Pole 4,333-3,941.

Eberhart’s personal best came in air rifle, where he shot a 566. Kasey shot 534 in smallbore to set a personal best.

Kasey Barnes led all shooters with a 570 in air rifle, followed closely by JT Schnering at 567. Eric Kirschner also shot air rifle for the Malemutes, shooting a 537.

Eberhart led all shooters in smallbore with a 548, followed by Kasey in second. Schenring shot a 506 while Connor Gilman shot a 505.

For the Patriots, Mitch Durrant led the way in air rifle with a 528, followed by Zachary Andrews with a 521. Andrews led the way in smallbore with a 478 and was followed by Caleb Simmons with a 467. Simmons also shot 515 in air rifle.

Durrant shot 464 in smallbore. Taylor Armstrong (510 air rifle, 458 smallbore) also shot for the Patriots.
