Hutchison shooters put up big numbers against North Pole

FAIRBANKS — The Hutchison Hawks continued to put up big numbers in last week’s high school rifle victory against the North Pole Patriots.

The Hawks won the air rifle portion of the match 2,182-2004 and captured the smallbore portion of the match 2,072-1,908.

All of Hutchison’s air rifle shooters posted scores of 535 or better. Gabe Stutz led the way with a 561, Blaze Brooks put up a 548, Roscoe Beadles posted a 538 and Loden Dunham notched a 535.

Brenna Welch led the Patriots with a 542, Erika Blanchard notched a 540, Jana Armstrong registered a 463 and Zachary Andrews had a personal best 459.

Junior varsity shooters who posted personal best air rifle scores were Hutchison’s Nathanael Manning (553), Max Delzer (532) and Emma Daniels (511) and North Pole’s Caleb Hull (459) and Caleb Simmons (434).

Hutchison’s smallbore event was led by Beadles with a 547. Manning posted a 543, while Stutz registered a 497 and Brooks scored a 496.

Welch led North Pole with a personal best 528, followed by Blanchard with a 481, Armstrong with a 456 and Andrews with a 443.

The only other smallbore personal best put up was by North Pole’s Hull with a 413.

In a smallbore match on Oct. 27, Hutchison beat 2,065-1,959.

Hutchison’s scored were: Beadles 541, Delzer 509 (including a 99), Manning a 508 and Stutz a 507.

West Valley’s scores were: Phillip Wilson 501 (personal best); Connor Soden 493; Nicole Plummer 485 and Casey MacCheyne 480 (personal best).

Other personal best scores were shot by Hutchison’s Amy Gentry (479) and Kimballan Carver (330) and West Valley’s Quetzel Luebke-Laroque (396) and Parker Pile (341).
