Lathrop wins 3-team rifle match

FAIRBANKS — The Lathrop Malemutes rifle team downed Hutchison and Delta Junction in a three-team match at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range on Saturday.

The Malemutes, who shot a 2,266 in air rifle and 2,199 in smallbore, were led by Connor Gilman and JT Schnering. The duo tied for the match-high in air rifle with a 575. Schnering shot a match-high 566 in smallbore.

Chloe Allan (563 air rifle, 543 smallbore) and Liam Eberhart (553 air rifle, 538 smallbore) rounded out the Malemutes air rifle score.

Amy Gentry led Hutchison in both events. She shot a 573 in air rifle and a 563 in smallbore. The Hawks shot a 2,211 in air rifle as a team and 2,122 in smallbore.

Jennifer Merrion took second on the Hawks in air rifle with a 551 while Charlie McNeil took second on the team in smallbore with a 533.

The Hawks fired a team total of 2,122 in smallbore.

Mason Falkner shot a 544 in air rifle while Charlie McNeill fired a 543 to round out the Hawks air rifle team score. Zoey Hensley shot a team-high 565 in air rifle for the Delta Junction Huskies. Jacob Shautt finished second on the team with a 557.

Shautt led the Huskies in smallbore with a 550 with Miles Patton taking second on the team with a 533.

The Huskies shot 2,204 in air rifle and 2,122 in smallbore.

Patton fired a 553 in air rifle while Alex Matthews added 529 to finish the Hawks’ team score.
