Doug's Blog Part 1

Ever wonder what it would be like to attend a Camp Perry Rifle Match? You wonder...

    • What do I need to do before I attend the camp?
    • What do I need to bring?
    • What do I do when I arrive at the camp?
    • What do I do once I am there and during the match?

Well we do know someone who has attended rifle matches and can shed some light on the subject. So let us do a blog on the Do's and Don'ts of traveling to a rifle match. Doug Harvey is one of our members in our 21 Mile Rifle Club. He recently retired and for the past year has been competing outside the state in various rifle matches.

Arrival Day. Flew into Cleveland, got my rental car and drove 90 minutes to get to my hotel.

After checking into the hotel and unloading my gear, drove to Camp Perry to sign into the matches at the welcome center, where I got my scorecards, schedule, and swag bag.

From there, drove to the parking lot across the road from Viale range for weapon inspection and trigger weighing.

Tomorrow is a down day for me to recover from the flight and organize my gear for Monday's President's 100 match.

Score cards for President's 100, National Trophy Individual, Hearst Doubles, and John C. Garand matches.

Match schedule, program, inspection instructions, competitor badge, competitor stickers, and some swag items.

The new (2019) rifle inspection instructions.
