FAIRBANKS—Former Alaska Nanooks Ryan Anderson and Mike Liuzza posted top-10 overall finishes after Tuesday’s final stage of the men’s air rifle at the USA Shooting National Championships in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Anderson placed second with a two-day total of 1,255.4 after firing a 621.4 on Tuesday. He was in third place with a 621.0 score after Monday’s final at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit range.

Liuzza compiled a 1,243.0 total for eighth place following a 616.8 effort in Tuesday’s final. He was fourth on Monday with a 623.2.

Nanooks senior Tim Sherry finished 14th, compiling a 1,236.8 total after respective finals of 619.8 and 617.0. Redshirt junior teammate Soren Butler ended the competition in 30th place with a 1,221.6 following a 611.1 on Monday and a 610.5 on Tuesday.

Incoming Nanooks freshman Nathan Taylor finished in 56th place with a 1,200.1 total (600.3 and 599.8). Sophomore teammate Luke Johnson closed the nationals in 64th place after compiling a 1,196.2 total (603.3, 592.9).

Nanooks freshman JT Schnering, who graduated from Lathrop High School in May, ended in 62nd place at 1,197.2 (600.9, 596.3).

Lathrop shooter Conor Gilman compiled a 1,184.0 total (594.7, 589.3) for 78th place.

Taylor finished 22nd among junior men while Schnering was 29th, Johnson 31st and Gilman 45th.

In the women’s 40-meter three position event, Nanooks senior and Lathrop grad Jaimie Barnes added a 555 score on Tuesday to the 558 she shot on Monday to give her a 51st-place total of 1,113.

Amy Gentry, a Hutchison High School senior, finished 60th on Tuesday with a 1,105 after she shot 549 on Monday and 556 on the final day of the competition. Gentry also ended in 43rd place among junior women.
