July 16th & 17th 2011 State Match

Congratulations to Ken Gill who won the 2011 Alaska State High Power Rifle Championship. We had competitors from as far away as Kodiak. The weather even reminded us of the Aleutians Islands. After a 2-hour rain delay, all shooters returned and endured a cool drizzle and a stiff southwest wind. Ken held off the reining champion, Chuck Fryer, and won the match with a 761-19X.

The CMP Leg Match was held on Sunday and conditions improved immensely. Mild temperatures, no moisture, and a light northeast breeze saluted 12 shooters. The ‘Distinguished ’ old geezers held there own and finished in the top 3 positions. Gene Scarboro posted a 477-12X to win the match. Leg points were awarded to Chuck Herbert with a 460-8X. This is Chuck’s second leg and he appears to be improving weekly. Congratulations Chuck!

Our next match is Sun, August 7^th at Ft. Wainwright. Showtime is 7 am. I hope to see you there.
