This is a brand new project (2024/5) combining the use of resin pouring, timber, laser cutting, 3D printing, laser engraving, assmebly, soldering, and the latest developments in lighting technology. You will complete some initial 2D design work; followed by some 3D sketching and making a test foam model, then as soon as possible you will then start the manufacture in the school workshops. You will pour resin, (learning a scalable process) to create the base of the lamp ready to cut, drill and shape, before making all other parts of the lamp.
This project will see you design around a USB hub device that will allow many USB products to be powered. The idea of the project is to design something that looks stylish and 'hides the clutter'of cables to give a neat, modular, storage solution to many of today's USB powered devices. You can use a variety and range of materials.

Shortlisted for an International award this project will see you develop 2D Zentangle sketching skills alongside digital sketching (Using the D&T iPad Pro & Pencil); digital manipulation; 3D manipulation; Onshape 3D CAD work; Adobe Photoshop; Laser cut panels; 3D printed feet (Optional); and assembly.
