The Design & Technology department understands that students will speak a wide range of different languages and that English may be your 2nd or even 3rd language. This can of course be very challenging to access the information required to learn at the same rate as the rest of your class.
The D&T EAL Language page offers support in how to make our website more accessible to you as well as examples of different techniques on how cross-language comments or translations can be used.

Design and Technology at Rugby School Thailand is progressive and forward thinking. You will use advanced sketching techniques, including digital sketching, alongside learning 3D CAD and modelling and manufacture. We will providefor you a high-quality design and technology education that should give you opportunities to create, innovate, design, make and evaluate a variety of well-crafted products that are fit for purpose. You will be taught the technical skills and craftsmanship to execute practical tasks, thereby developing confidence to increase your skills, knowledge and competence in using materials, machinery, techniques and processes. You should develop valuable practical skills and use these safely with a range of resistant and non-resistant materials, drawing media tools and equipment, in both 2D and 3D. You will be shown how to communicate your ideas and designs skilfully and accurately in 2D and 3D, using a variety of techniques, including digital technologies, manufacture in a range of material areas, CAD, CAM and 3D Printing. You should know about good design, everyday products and use correct technical terminology with Design & Technology literacy. You will be allowed to investigate and analyse the rich history of design and technological innovation and the work of others, including iconic designs, to inform your own work. You will be shown developments in design and in technology and the responsibilities of designers, including environmental responsibilities. You should clearly enjoy the subject, whilst developing a mastery of Design & Technology over the years. You will be guided by a teacher who themselves demonstrate a passion for Design & Technology.
innovation and creativity in learning
We have won the Innovation and Creativity in Learning award (January 2023) for the work that has been developed in the use of AR (Augmented Reality). This is the second time we have been shortlisted (previously 'Digital technology in learning initiative' for the USB Lantern project) and we are very pleased. Well done to Candy Somboon, Lynne Ukrit, Nicki Jarupsakul, Bogdan Zykulov, Marin Scott, Memee Boonyai.

Design & Technology will help you develop all of the Rugby School Leaner Characteristics, but you will develop some areas more than others as you progress through D&T.
