Lego is typically manufactured from ABS because it is hard and scratch resist, making it durable so it can withstand play and also withstand the forces of connecting pieces together. Lego is looking at ways to become more sustainable by adapting and combining the types of plastic that it uses. The challenge is to manufacture a 5x scale Lego figure using the information in the working drawings, using the machines, materials and equipment you have available to you.
During this mini project you will learn many skills and lots of these are also included on the CAIE Syllabus, that you could be tested upon during your Paper 2 exam. This means that you are learning some theory through a practical 'fun' experience. Some of the topics that will be covered include:
