Whilst we would like you to model your final design physically using a range of model making materials, it is also important that you understand the process of explorting parts of your model for 3D Printing. This is a skill you need to understand for future projects.
Below are the main stages in undertaking this process. More detailed instructions can then be found by clicking the link below.
Click on the actual 3D part or click on the part that is in the parts list. It is a really good idea to have named all your parts in your parts list.
Look at the settings in the above image and ensure that yours are the same. You should have linked your Google Drive to Onshape as this makes it much more efficient to export and email parts to Mr Kennedy. If you have not, ask your teacher to show you how to do it.
Open up Bambu Labs on the computer.
Go to File and Import 3MF
Bambu Labs will allow you to print your work in any orientation. However, it is up to you to work out which orientation is best. The main objective is to have the minimum amount or no unnecessary support material and a stable model on the bed of the 3D printer.
The correct orientation is determined by many different factors such as the shape of your part and the holes in your part.
You will discuss this at length with your teacher and or technician to ensure that it prints in the most efficient manner with regards to material use and time.
See image below.
As you can see above there a many variables that need to me set correctly to print out your part in the most efficient manner. You will discuss this with your teacher and/or the technician.
