Final Design in 2pt Perspective

Final design

The video below demonstrates how to sketch your final design in 2 point perspective, using Procreate. The use of shadows and highlights makes a huge difference to the rendering once the photo textures have been inserted.

Step one

Import a screenshot of your chosen design (from your design ideas sheet) and then use that to help you transfer some initial pencil sketch work (Sketch-a-day II Brush pack and Dirty Spencil 2) onto the template. Once complete reduce the opacity of this layer to about 50%.

step two

Choose a Technical pen from the Inking brush set and now make definitie your lines. Remember to try and use Thick and Thin lines to help make your design work stand out.

step three

step four

Add in an image for the wood texture. Select the fine line pen layer and the Mask tool. Select the wood area and then Invert the mask. Select the Wood layer. Tap and drag down three fingers onto the surface of the iPad and choose Cut.

step five

Add in an image for the resin texture.

step six

Adding shadows, with an airbrush, really gives the 3D design depth and starts to make it look more realistic. Select your fine line pen layer and choose the Mask tool and select the areas you wish to add shaodws. I treated the wood and the resin as two separate layers in this example.

step seven

Add highlights as a new layer, using a Sharp Airbrush. Mask your layers

step eight

Using the Felt brush texture, mask and render the mosquito coil
