digital Sketching - kettle concepts
You should be able to download this image onto the iPad. If you cannot then ask your teacher to Airdrop the original sketch to you.
Example of the stages of digitally marker rendering the Kettle Concept design ideas sheet using Procreate, layers, marker, masks, textures, shadows and highlights.
Shadows and highlights
Once you have added colour / textures / materials you need to add final shadows and highlights to each of the designs to give them depth.
The example below (suspension spring) demonstrates really clearly the difference shadows and then highlights make to a marker pen sketch.

No shadows
This is good and has some depth however adding some subtle shadows using a dark airbrush will give the marker rendering greater depth and help 'lift' the design from the sheet.
Adding shadows
Using a Soft Dirty Air 'brush' from the Sketch-A-Day Mega Pack II brushes, set the airbrush on a large brush (between 14 - 28%) and the opacity approx. 40%. Mask areas that you do not want to airbrush and carefully add further depth to your design work.
adding highlights
Using the Soft Clean Air 'brush' from the Sketch-A-Day Mega Pack II brushes add white hughlights to your work. A highlight is where you think light would 'catch' your product. Set the brush size between 2% - 12% and carefully, but bodly, add highlights on a new layer.
