– function - what a product does and how it functions (works)
– aesthetics - what a product looks like. It's shape and form, colours, materials, look and style
– ergonomics - how a product interacts with humans
– types and properties of materials - what materials a product is made from and why
– production processes - how is the product made and why
– target market / customers - who is the product aimed at
– cost - how much does it cost to make the product and why. How much the product retails at
– safety of the user - what precautions are in place so that the user does not injure themselves
– quality control (standards such as use of non-toxic paints or electrical safety) - how is the product checked to be safe
– sustainability - what considerations have been given to the product with regards disposal, materials the product is made from, transport of the product, packaging of the product, can it be recycled etc. etc.
