To make the mould for your Lamp base you should ideally use a Working Drawing from Onshape for the Base part of your lamp. You will need a number of views to do this correctly. You will need the Top view (from above), a Side view and possibly an End view. You will then use these printed drawings to help make your mould the correct size.
You can also use your Foam model (if it is the right size) to measure the sizes to make your mould just slightly bigger (see below).
You will make your mould from Corroflute (a lightweight, cheap, corrigated plastic sheet) which is normally used for displays. Resin does not permanently stick to this material and given its low cost it makes it ideal for resin pouring.
Below is a Step-by-Step process of making a mould for your Base.
Once you have made a mould, you then need to Cut and Shape your chosen wooden base piece ready for it to go into the mould you have made and then pour the resin. Your teacher will demonstrate and show you how to use: the Power Fretsaw; a Coping Saw; the Bandsaw; Files and hand tools.
Once you have cut your wood to the correct initial shape you are ready to 'seal' the wood. this is to prevent it 'gassing' when you pour the resin. your teacher will explain that part.
