Learning outcomes

By the end of this unit you should have developed a knowledge and understanding of:

• the responsibilities of designers and manufacturers to ensure products are made using sustainable materials and components

• the environmental impact of packaging

• how products are designed to conserve energy, materials and components

• the concept of a circular economy

• how to design products for minimum impact on the environment

• sustainable manufacturing, including the use of alternative energy and methods to minimise waste.
