Welcome Back

Welcome back for Term 2. We hope our students and families managed to have a nice break. We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead. A big reminder as we head into the colder months that if your child or children have any flu or gastro like symptoms to keep them at home until they are well.

ANZAC Ceremony

This morning, our school leaders, Jack and Eden, led our school community through our annual ANZAC Ceremony. They provided a thoughtful overview of why ANZAC Day is such an important day in Australia and shared insights into the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Thank you to the many parents and carers who joined us this morning to commemorate this important occasion.

Literacy and Numeracy Overviews.

To help you better understand what learning in Literacy and Numeracy looks like at Evatt Primary School, we will be sharing term overviews with families. These overviews outline how these key learning areas are taught, what your child will be learning throughout the term, and how we support all students to achieve their full potential.

We also include some simple ideas and prompts you can use at home to support your child’s learning and reinforce what they are doing in the classroom.

Reminder – Early Birds

As you may be aware, Early Birds has been running at Evatt Primary School for the past two years in our fabulous school library. During this time, we have seen a consistently high number of students and families attend and engage in the program.

At Early Birds, students spend time reading independently and also have the opportunity to read with an adult, including teachers, support staff, and parent volunteers.

Each time students attend, their visit is recorded on their Early Birds card. Once a card is completed, students earn a special bird badge to celebrate their commitment to reading.

Early Birds is open to all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and runs each morning from 8:30–9:00am in the library.

Reminder – Names on Clothes

As the weather becomes cooler in the mornings and warms up throughout the day, many students are wearing their school jumpers and then taking them off later on.

A friendly reminder to please label all items of clothing with your child’s name. This helps us return any misplaced items to the correct owner.
