Welcome Back
Welcome back for Term 2. We hope our students and families managed to have a nice break. We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead. A big reminder that if your child or children have any flu like symptoms to keep them at home until they are well.
Anzac Ceremony
On Monday our school leaders hosted our annual ANZAC Ceremony here at Evatt Primary School. During this time our students learnt about and reflected on the sacrifices that have been made for our freedoms we enjoy everyday. It has been lovely to hear many of the stories that the students have shared back to us about how they celebrated ANZAC Day on Tuesday.
Evatt Primary School Live on 666 ABC Canberra
Yesterday we had the privilege of sharing a range of the great things that are happening at Evatt Primary School, live on ABC 666 Canberra.
Firstly, Lachlan and Joshua Scarth, Kai and Taj Toohey and Patrick Lin demonstrated some outstanding skills at the dirt bike track that was broadcast by the ABC reporter in great detail through the airwaves of Canberra. Felicity Toohey shared proudly about the positive impact this has had on the school and community.
Following this Jamal See and I were able to highlight and celebrate many of the wonderful things that are happening at Evatt. It was great to see a number of families watching on during the live broadcast yesterday.
Netball Connect
As part of the Family Connect program, Netball Connect launched yesterday afternoon. It was heartwarming to see so many students and families having a wonderful time, learning new school and utilising the outdoor facilities here at school. Thank you to Ben Sterland and Layla Bahgat who will be facilitating this program over the next 5 weeks. If you haven't already, make sure you register to family connect and keep an eye out for all the great things happening. More information on registration can be found here.

Cross Country
Congratulations to the students who received ribbons for cross country at our assembly this morning. We wish all our students representing Evatt at the upcoming zone carnival the very best of luck.
3/4 and 5/6 Futsal
Congratulations to the Evatt students who represented our school at the 3/4 and 5/6 Futsal Carnivals in Week 10 of last term. They did an outstanding job in what was a tough competition but always competed with great sportspersonship and represented our school proudly. Thank you to James Keeley and Mat Middleton for facilitating this.
Student Learning Resources (previously known as bookpacks)
During the school holidays we have sourced all of the stationary, supplies and resources required to support your child's learning for 2023. With a goal of keeping costs to a minimum + saving parents and carers time sourcing themselves, we have purchased the supplies in bulk and will provide them to the students as required throughout the year. We have ensured the purchase of high quality resources. Some of these supplies include: workbooks, pencils, pens, textas, glue sticks, scissors, rubbers, sharpeners, rulers, scissors, tissues + a large amount of specific resources required for Art, Science, Technology, Mathematics, Sustainability and Literacy.
We encourage all parents/carers to pay for the learning resource requirements for their child(ren). An amount of $70 per student will cover these costs for the year.

Voluntary Contributions
All ACT Government Schools ask families for the payment of voluntary contributions. These funds are extremely valuable for ensuring that the school can provide an enhanced learning experience for all students. We will continue to prioritise our voluntary contributions to a new PA system for our school hall.
As we did last year in consultation with our School Board, we are not going to put an expected dollar amount on the voluntary contributions.
Previously the contribution was $120 for one child, $220 for two children or $290 for three or more children.
If you nominate your voluntary contribution to the library fund this amount is tax deductible.

Asking kids about their school day…
As parents and carers, we often want to know about our child’s school day. Sometimes we don’t get very much information and sometimes this sort of questioning can stress them out. Here are some simple ways that may improve this for you and your child…
Wishing you many calm and positive moments as you navigate family life.
