Congratulations to Sienna Williams-Arena for winning the Rotary Citizenship Award.
Our Year 6 students were joined by their Year 5 peers for the evening dinner and disco where everyone had a fabulous time. A big thank you to our year 6 teachers and LSAs for coordinating a wonderful graduation.
Congratulations to the following students who have been voted in by the students and teachers as our Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for 2023.

I'd like to thank all of the Year 5 students who worked extremely hard in preparing and sharing their presentations with our students and staff.
We are so very fortunate to have a hard working and dedicated team of staff at Evatt Primary School who have the students at the centre of everything that they do. A number of these staff were recognised at the Public Education Awards that were held on Monday night at the National Museum of Australia.
Congratulations to the following staff for their nominations;
Katie Bennett - Primary Teacher of the Year

Our Semester Two reports will be emailed to parents and carers today. A reminder that teachers are providing feedback against the achievement standards of the Australian Curriculum across a range of learning areas. As shared by the Education Directorate there will be no comments attached in the reports. Please make contact with your child's teacher if you need any follow on on the student report.
A reminder our end-of-year celebration will be held next Thursday December 15 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
It will be an informal, outdoor event where classes and year levels across the school will perform a dance or music item for our community.
Families are invited to bring along a picnic rug, set out on the grass, and enjoy an evening together as a community.
Stay tuned for more information and a performance list via Seesaw over the next few days.
Our students will be participating in a ‘move up’ day next Thursday to support a successful transition into next year. Classes and teachers will be shared to families via Seesaw later next week.
A big congratulations to our principal, Michael Hatswell, on winning the ACT Public Schools School Leader of the Year award!
It’s an exciting time of the year, with Summer here and the school year winding down. It can also be a time of stress, especially for our Year 6 students getting ready to transition to high school. ReachOut Australia shares: “The transition from primary to secondary school is a time of rapid change for students. As exciting as it can be, it can also be stressful and challenging as they prepare to adapt to new rules, environments, and expectations.
Starting high school is a huge milestone for young people, as well as their families.” Here are some resources from ReachOUT for parents to support their teens in navigating the changes that come with making the big move: transition to high school support.
If you like listening to podcasts and have the opportunity when driving home from work, or while you’re waiting for kids to finish their sports activity, “A Little Easier” is a podcast designed to support stressed parents. As the host, Kendra Wilde shares:
“parent well-being matters; it ripples to our kids. Parenting is hard, especially when our kids struggle. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed and exhausted, relief is here. Kendra Wilde, an advocate and mom, created this show because she needed it herself. It brings together insights from leading experts and parents who ‘get it’ to give us all a lift.”
If you’ve been following my corner, you may even recognise one of the parenting gurus she talks to: Mona Delahooke.
