Today we celebrated Book Week at Evatt Primary School. Thes school was buzzing with so many students and staff dressing up in costume as one of their favourite characters from a book.
The day started with a fabulous parade followed by a fun multi-aged activities rotation that our students had a great time participating in.
Thank you to so many of our families coming in to enjoy our parade.
Our Early Birds program was showcased on WIN News last night as part of Book Week Celebrations. This program has been a huge success with so many students and families accessing it daily. We place a strong emphasis on the importance of reading at Evatt Primary School and we enjoy starting each day with this being our focus. You check out the story here.
Congratulations to all the Evatt students who proudly represented our school at the District Athletics Carnival on Tuesday. Everyone competed to the best of their ability with great sportspersonship. Congratulations to a number of students who have progressed to the ACT Carnival later this term.
Thank you to our P&C who again will be running our Fathers Day stall next week. Make sure you have checked out the information that has been shared out on Seesaw.
You can pre purchase vouchers here: https://square.link/u/liOg8NQ6 OR cash will be accepted on the day if required.
If you can help for an hour or so either of those days please get in touch here or evattpspc@gmail.com
Understandably, we place a high priority on the safety of students each and every day. The Evatt Primary School P&C would like to hear from you about road safety concerns and traffic management issues around the school. They would greatly appreciate it if you could take some time to complete the short survey below.
We are hoping you have seen the information about the upcoming P&C community event ‘Stomp The Grounds’ that will be held on Sunday 22 September (end of Week 9). This was a huge success last year so make sure you save the date and bring your family along for what will be a wonderful community morning. More information to come!
As you are probably aware, the Evatt Primary School bike club runs every Thursday for students who have completed the permission form to come along. Bike club operates in 3 x groups under the guidance of our wonderful parent volunteers Duane and Veronica. If your child is not part of the bike club and would like to join, please fill out a form that is available at the front office. Please note that students must be able to ride to attend.
Again, a huge thanks to our parent volunteers who do a fabulous job each and every week.
A reminder to all parents and carers to take a small amount of time and fill out the 2024 School Satisfaction & Climate Survey which will be available online. The survey results will help us to continue to make quality informed decisions about how to improve our school. No personal identifying information will be provided to any school or college.
You should have received an email with a link to this in your nominated email account. Please notify the school if this has not occurred.
A timely reminder that it's hats back on. It's great to see nearly all students with hats for playtime break out PE. Please make sure your child has a sun safe hat with their name on their hat.
Dear parents and carers,
We recently launched Parent Portal, a secure online platform to share student information between you and your child’s teachers.
You’ll soon be able to access Parent Portal through the Sentral for Parents app. Keep an eye out for more information from us once the Sentral for Parents app is available for our school to use. Evatt Primary is expected to launch the app for use on September 2nd, 2024.
If you haven’t registered for Parent Portal yet, I encourage you to do so using this Parent Portal access link and log into or create your ACT Digital Account. To access Parent Portal, you will need your access key. You should have received these by email when we launched.
If you have any questions, or don’t have your access key, please contact the Front Office at info@evattps.act.edu.au or on 02 6142 1640.
Remember that using Parent Portal means you can:

book parent-teacher interviews
receive academic reports
receive our school newsletter
receive messages from your child’s teachers
make payments
access the school calendar and your child’s student timetable.

On Thursday, the Year 6 band had a wonderful performance. During this performance they played: Smugglers Cove, Anasazi, Little Shop of Horrors, Pirates of the Caribbean, Limbo Rock and the Haunted Mansion. They performed very well. A big thanks to Miles Franklin for walking over here to play. We would like to thank the conductor, Ms Ford, as she has taught the band very well. We are very thankful for her teaching.
WEEK 5 WAS BOOK WEEK! On Friday 23rd August, Evatt Primary had a book day celebration, where you could dress up as a character from your favourite book. There was a parade on the barnyard at 9am and years K-6 did activities based on books throughout the day. Some preschool kids from the Green group had their own little parade on Tuesday in front of the kindy and year 1s. After, Ms Bultitude read them a book, Every Night at Midnight. There were many costumes, there was Elsa, Beauty and the Beast, Iron Man, Spiderman, a dinosaur from the Children's Encyclopaedia of Dinosaurs and many others. Each year we hold a Bookfair. This is a fun way for families to view and purchase books while supporting the school library. 25-30% of all sales goes back into the library. This is the main way the library is able to purchase new books to keep the collection vibrant and up to date.
This year, Book Fair will be in Week 6 from Tuesday 27th August – Friday 30th August.
It will be open before school from 8:30 – 9 and straight after school from 3 – 3:45 pm.
For anyone unable to visit the fair orders can also be paid for online, using the wish list students bring home and then collected by students at school. For any further information please email me Deborah.bultitude@ed.act.edu.au.
