Today we celebrated Book Week at Evatt Primary School, and the school was buzzing with excitement! Students and staff embraced the spirit of the day, dressing up as some of their favourite book characters.
We kicked off the celebrations with a fabulous parade, followed by a fun rotation of multi-aged activities that our students thoroughly enjoyed.
A big thank you to all the families who came along to share in the parade and celebrate with us, it made the day extra special.
Last week, Evatt Primary School was delighted to host ACT Education Minister Yvette Berry, along with Professor Barney Dalgarno, Executive Dean of Education at the University of Canberra. Their visit was to celebrate the highly successful UC STEP program, which Evatt Primary is proud to be part of.
The UC STEP program is a school-based teacher education initiative, and this year we have been fortunate to welcome Jessica Buckland to our school. Jessica worked with our Year 5/6 classes in Semester 1 and is now supporting our Year 3/4 students in Semester 2.
We always enjoy the opportunity to showcase the wonderful things happening at Evatt Primary School!
Over the past few weeks, important works have been carried out at our school to improve security, including upgrades to our alarms and lighting. Many of you will be aware of the ongoing vandalism and graffiti issues we’ve faced, and we have been working hard to put measures in place to reduce this. Fingers crossed these upgrades will make a positive difference in discouraging unwelcome graffiti at our school.
A big thank you to our Business Manager, Rebecca Swiridzuik, who has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure support from the Education Directorate for these much-needed improvements.
Please join me in congratulating Katie Bennett, who has been successful in winning the substantive SLC position here at Evatt Primary School.
Katie has done a fantastic job backfilling other school leaders over the past 18 months, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our leadership team in a permanent role.
Katie will continue in the role of Junior School team Leader.
Congratulations, Katie!
A friendly reminder to all parents and carers to take a few minutes to complete the 2025 School Satisfaction & Climate Survey, available online. Your feedback is extremely valuable and helps us make informed decisions to continually improve our school.
Please note that no personal identifying information will be shared with any school or college.
You should have received an email with the survey link to your nominated email account. If you haven’t received it, please contact the school office so we can assist.
A timely reminder that it's hats back on. It's great to see nearly all students with hats for playtime break out PE. Please make sure your child has a sun safe hat with their name on their hat.
