Mother's Day Stall - Thursday 5 May
District Cross Country - Thursday 26 May (notes to come out next week)
Year 3/4 Camp - Thursday 26 - Friday 27 May
Welcome back for Term 2. We hope our students and families managed to have a nice break. We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead. We are anticipating that some covid restrictions will ease in schools moving forward and we will inform you as these occur. A big reminder that if your child or children have any flu like symptoms to keep them at home until they are well. Like last term, if they do have covid please inform the school plus follow the up to date health advice.
You may have noticed some works that have progressed in and around the school over the holidays. Some of these have included a fence near our library that will create an outdoor play space plus an outdoor extension to our library area. The HVAC air conditioning system is nearing completion in our school hall and this will be greatly appreciated during the warmer months later in the year. We have also had an extension to the outdoor learning space in our Arboretum building. A big thank you to our Deputy Principal Jamal See and Business Manager Bec Swiridzuik who have been working tirelessly to ensure these works progress.
On the last Friday or last term our school leaders hosted our annual ANZAC Ceremony here at Evatt Primary School. During this time our students learned about and reflected on the sacrifices that have been made for our freedoms we enjoy every day. It has been lovely to hear many of the stories that the students have shared back to us about how they celebrated ANZAC Day on Monday.
Next Thursday 5 May our P&C will be holding their annual Mothers Day stall fundraiser. Each class will have a time to visit the stall and buy something for mum, a significant other or a carer at home. Items will be available for purchase for $2, $4, $6, $8 and $10.
A stall will be set up on Tuesday morning for our Preschool Groups who do not attend on a Thursday.
Families can pre-buy tickets to use on the day online by clicking here. Students will receive a ticket for each $2 purchased to use on the day. Please enter the student's name and class when completing the order and complete a new order for each child. Please note that the P&C will be unable to give refunds for unspent tickets. Cash will still be accepted if need be.
Thank you to our P&C for running this event.
A big congratulations to Josh and Lachie Scarth who competed in the Oceania (Australia & NZ) BMX racing championships during the school holidays. These championships were held in Brisbane. Josh finished 6th in the 8 year old boys category and Lachie rode his heart out, narrowly missing out on a semi final spot finishing in 19th place in the 11 year old boys category. As a result of Josh’s placing, he has been selected to ride for Australia at the World BMX Racing Championships in France at the end of July. We wish Josh all the best at the Worlds and all of Evatt will be cheering loudly from afar.
A reminder that Evatt Primary School is a community partner with the Southern Cross Clubs around Canberra. If you visit these clubs please make sure you have ‘Evatt Primary’ as your selected community partner attached to your membership card. The school receives 7.5% of every dollar that is spent when you swipe your card for purchases in the club. These funds support valuable resources for our students around the school.
You can also associate your membership with the school by clicking here.
A friendly reminder to put your childs name on all items they bring to school. As winter approaches more school jumpers will be coming into school and often these come off during the day when it warms up. Unfortunately we had to move on a huge amount of clothing, drink bottles and lunch boxes this week that had no names on them. We understand that replacing these items can be costly and the placement of a name can help to avoid this.
The Evatt canteen is open on Thursdays and Fridays for lunch orders only. These will be served at B1. Counter sales are also available during B1. We encourage people to order online. Online orders close at 8am.
Click the buttons below for the updated menu and online ordering instructions.
The Evatt Uniform shop now has some stock of the new-style uniform in most sizes on site. Old-style uniform shirts continue to be sold at a discounted price. Enquire for more info.
Please note that new-style jumpers are only available via pre-order and generally are not kept in stock.
If you would like to preorder for this, please order online at https://evattpc.square.site/.
