A big welcome back to our Evatt community for 2025. We have had a great start to the year and are looking forward to the term and year ahead that will be filled with fantastic learning opportunities for our students. Our teaching team has worked hard with their preparation and planning to ensure the learning needs of all our students are met. It has been lovely to see so many parents and carers around the school this week. A special welcome to our new families to the school, we hope you love Evatt Primary School as much as we do!
A reminder to ensure you have access to our communication platforms to keep up to date with all our information and good news stories throughout the year. We are no longer using Seesaw.

Next Wednesday, Evatt Primary School will be hosting a free Community BBQ alongside our Getting to Know You Interviews. The BBQ will be running from 3.30pm to 6:00pm. Details about booking an interview time have been sent to families via the parent portal.
The morning bell will ring at 8.58am for which we ask students to be in their morning lines ready for the day's messages. Students will then transition into their classrooms at or close to 9.00am to start their learning immediately. Every minute of learning counts at Evatt Primary School!
A reminder that playgrounds are not open for use before school.
The Front Office will be open each morning however we request this only be used as an access point for students/families who are accessing the front office services and not as a main thoroughfare.
Evatt Primary School’s reading literacy support program will run every morning from 8:30–8:55 am in the library. Students in K–6 will sign in upon arrival and earn a badge for every 20 visits. They will read independently and have the opportunity to read to an adult (Teacher, LSA, or volunteer). Students enter through the front school gates and exit via the library sliding doors to join morning lines.
Below are some important reminders that will assist with the running of our school this year.
Label clothes and belongings: please label all jumpers, jackets, hats, drink bottles and food containers
Allergy friendly school: please ensure your child brings no nuts or nut products to school
There is no school canteen. Our P&C run a special lunch order day once a term so keep an eye out for this
Car park: the safety of our students is our top priority. Specific information is shared in this newsletter. We also strongly encourage families to walk or ride to school each day.
I wanted to draw your attention to the traffic arrangements for dropping and collecting your children. The Kiss and Collect/Drop Zone is on Heydon Crescent, located along the front of the school, between the carpark exit and bottom end of the fence line.
Please read the following important points:
Please be mindful not to turn right out of the school car park during the school hours of 8.30 - 9.30am and 2.30 - 3.30pm.
Please be mindful that cars allowed in the car park are those that have a disabled sticker, staff, or those cars belonging to volunteers working in the school.
If you need to come into the school, there is 15-minute parking outside the preschool, on Heydon Crescent.
No parking in front of the emergency access gate (see photo) – fines may apply.
These requirements are to reduce the likelihood of a serious incident at the start and end of the day.
The school will be transitioning out our use of Seesaw as a communication platform. We will in place be using the ACT Education Parent Portal as our main method of communicating with families. We ask all families if they haven’t done so yet to register for the parent portal, and download the dedicated App which makes use of the system far easier.
You can now access Parent Portal with the Sentral for Parents app. Download Sentral for Parents for free through the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
