A big welcome back to term 4. We hope that our students and families managed some quality time together over the break. We have enjoyed hearing the stories from our students over the past few days about the holiday adventures and we look forward to a great term of learning ahead.
A reminder that Early Birds is open from 8.30am every morning in the library. We love seeing families spending quality time together reading a book.

Unfortunately, Elections ACT has made the decision for Evatt Primary School NOT to be a polling venue tomorrow for the ACT election. We are obviously disappointed about this as the election day vibe is always great for our school community and a great fundraising opportunity. We hope this will be rectified into the future. You will need to find an alternative venue to vote tomorrow.
If your child or children are moving on from Evatt Primary School for 2025 could you please let the school know. This will help us with our planning for next year. Obviously students in year 6 are excluded from this.
Our wonderful Evatt teachers will soon start to prepare class groupings for 2025. If you would like to share something to be considered in relation to your child and their placement in a class, could you please send this to michael.hatswell@ed.act.edu.au
We have an exciting and busy term ahead at Evatt Primary School. Please see attached many of the events planned for this term so you can put the dates into your diaries.
It's great to see nearly all students with hats for playtime & PE. Please make sure your child has a sun safe hat with their name on their hat.

As part of the Strong Foundations reform program, ACT public schools will begin a phased introduction of the Year 1 Phonics Check starting with 26 schools this term.
The Phonics Check is a quick and easy way for teachers to gauge the phonics knowledge of Year 1 students. It is designed to help teachers identify students who may need more help learning to read.
The first schools selected to participate were chosen based on demographic, location and size to provide a broad sample from across the ACT public school system. Insights from this first group of schools will inform a rollout of the Year 1 Phonics Check to our school and all ACT public schools in 2025.
This is an important milestone as part of the Strong Foundations program designed to strengthen literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students. You can read more on the Education Directorate website.
Enrolments for the 2025 school year are now open for students starting at a new school. Visit www.education.act.gov.au for the online application link and information about the school in your child’s Priority Enrolment Area. Apply by 7 June to receive an offer from 29 July 2024.
