‘The Evatt Way’ Parent Information Session
Thank you to the parents and carers who came to our information session on how teaching and learning looks at Evatt Primary. This was held last Thursday evening. We outlined our student expectations, mind-up program, learning timetable and unpacked how we deliver our learning using the explicit/direct/instruction format. We also supported our families to understand our kindergarten routines for 2024.
We appreciated the great turn up and as always value our parent and community feedback.
Year 5/6 Melba Copland Dance Performance
On Tuesday 7th November at the Melba Copland Secondary School Arts Showcase, 12 year 5/6 students performed a dance to Dance With Me Tonight by Olly Murs.
The group worked with Hannah to choreograph and practise the dance over the year. They performed exceptionally well and represented Evatt primary with pride.
End of Year Reports
Our Semester Two reports will be emailed to parents and carers on Friday Week 8 (01/12/2023). A reminder that teachers will be providing an A-E grade (Years 1-6) for the learning areas of the Australian Curriculum.
If you need to update your contact information with a new email address please inform the front office at info@evattps.act.edu.au.
Evatt Fest
A reminder our end-of-year celebration will be held on Thursday December 7 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. It will be an informal, outdoor event where classes from across the school will perform a dance or music item for our community. Families are invited to bring along a picnic rug, set out on the grass, and enjoy an evening together as a community.
Move Up Day
A reminder that our move up / transition session for Kindy, new students to Evatt and all current students will be Week 9 Thursday 7 December 12.15-1.15pm. This is where all students attend without parents and spend an hour in one of the kindergarten rooms for 2024. For all new students to the school bring your child to the front office and executive staff will take them to their classroom.
Students not returning in 2024
If your child or children are moving on from Evatt Primary School for 2024 could you please let the school know. This will help us with our planning for next year. Obviously students in year 6 are excluded from this.
Hats On
Our whole school day is generally within the hours that sun protection is recommended for UV safety.
Please make sure your child has a sun safe hat with their name on their hat.

As you may be aware, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases across ACT public schools in recent weeks.
To help stop the further spread of COVID-19 in our school, we are encouraging and implementing the following measures:
Students who are COVID-19 positive or displaying symptoms (including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever) should test and must not attend school while unwell.
Parents and carers must inform schools if their child is COVID-positive.
Keep up to date with vaccinations.
Families can access a free rapid antigen test (RAT) from the front office of their school. Nasal and saliva tests are available. Test when symptomatic or as a precaution.

What activities would you like the P&C run? What would you like the P&C to fund?
Volunteers needed!
The P&C needs your help! We appreciate that people are busy, but without help to run events, we won't be able to continue to run events for the kids. A lot of work goes into organising events and activities behind the scenes. Not everything is done during the day. We need help for the following:
Special lunch days - packaging up meals and serving to the kids
Writing comms on activities for the school community
What's your skillset, I'm sure we can use it!
Without the help of our community, we can’t run activities and events. If you can spare an hour or two, please contact the P&C at evattpspc@gmail.com.
