We have had a wonderful two weeks celebrating the Olympics with our own “Evatt Olympics” each day at morning lines. We have seen a range of events including the boot throw, egg and spoon race, foxtail hammer throw along with the closing ceremony event this morning being the medley race that was fiercely contested by our friends Mika, Mario and Diego. A big shout out to all the staff, parents and students who participated daily to make this a great start to each day over the past two weeks. Well done to the Kindergarten - Year 2 team for finishing on top of the medal tally!
Our students were treated to Christine Dawes, 7 x paralympian, who shared her inspiring story to all our students last Friday afternoon. She took us back to the time of finding out she would never walk again to then overcome adversity to represent Australia at seven Paralympic Games. Our students asked some great questions and took a lot out of the afternoon.
Our students will be able to see Chrsitine on the channel 9 paralympic coverage starting soon.
Well done to all the students who represented Evatt Primary School at the Oztag Gala Days this week.
The students played with wonderful sportspersonship and enjoyed the days. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support.
See Library News for more information on Book Week @ Evatt School.
Parents and families are invited to attend the next P&C meeting on Tuesday 13/8 at 6.15pm in the library.
Come along and hear about what the P&C has planned for the rest of the year and share your feedback and ideas.
We would love to see lots of parents in attendance.
A timely reminder that it's hats back on. It's great to see nearly all students with hats for playtime break out PE. Please make sure your child has a sun safe hat with their name on their hat.

As most of you may know, the 2024 Paris Olympics started on the 26th July. They will go until the 11th August. Here at Evatt, the first olympians, Leonidas and Koroibos have been visiting school for the teachers to compete in the Evatt Olympics. There have been a series of activities that the teachers have competed in. The games have been: Boot throw, foam javelin, soccer shootout, hammer throw, a ball and spoon race, a shuttle hit, and a kindergarten ball throwing game. Currently on the Paris Olympic medals tally Australia currently have 18xGold, 14xSilver and 13xBronze medals in the olympics. Adding up to 45 medals all together.
Here are the Evatt Olympics teams and Stats:
K-2: 3/4: 5/6:
3xGold 2xGold 4xGold
5xSilver 2xSilver 2xSilver
1xBronze 3xBronze 2xBronze
At the end of our closing ceremony today, the final score was calculated based on 3 points for a Gold Medal, 2 points for a Silver Medal and 1 point for a Bronze Medal.
This gives a final score of:
K-2 - 1st place: 20 points
5/6 - 2nd place: 18 points
3/4 - 3rd place: 13 points
Congratulations to the K-2 for winning the Evatt Olympics. Have a great weekend and don’t forget to cheer Australia on
We had a great time when Christie Dawes came in last Friday afternoon. Everyone enjoyed listening to her speech and took away some great safety information about seat belts and booster seats when travelling in cars.
Don't forget, as we are heading into August, you must bring a hat to school.
Speaking of sport, on the 6th and 7th August, some 3/4 and 5/6 kids went to Kaleen Playing Fields to play oztag. There were 35 boys that went on the 6th August and 20 girls that went on 7th August. All boys and girls totalled up to 55 students. Because there are so many boys, there is one team in each year group: 3, 4, 5 and 6. FOUR SEPERATE TEAMS! There weren't as many girls so there was a 3/4 and 5/6 team. We were so grateful to have 6 teams go to play oztag. Mr Frankcom and Ms Taylor both attended on the 6th and Ms Taylor attended on the 7th. Everyone enjoyed it very much! They went up against some very talented schools and represented Evatt Primary VERY well.
We hope to see you all next week in week 4 of term 3.
Book Week competitions will be opened.
There will be a writing competition announced in week 4. The winner from each year will receive a voucher to the book fair. Winners will be announced after the costume parade.
As a school we will be celebrating with a costume parade and book themed activity day.
Students are encouraged to dress up as a character from a book on Friday 23rd August. All costume efforts are appreciated. Do not feel overwhelmed by buying or making costumes.
Parents and carers are invited to watch the parade and enjoy the fun.
When: Friday 23rd August, 9am
Where: School Multi
After the parade students will return to class briefly to prepare for the day. All students from Kindergarten – year 6 will participate in a rotation around the school completing a variety of activities based on books.
Each year we hold a Bookfair. This is a fun way for families to view and purchase books while supporting the school library. 25-30% of all sales goes back into the library. This is the main way the library is able to purchase new books to keep the collection vibrant and up to date.
This year, Book Fair will be in Week 6 from Tuesday 27th August – Friday 30th August.
It will be open before school from 8:30 – 9 and straight after school from 3 – 3:45 pm.
For anyone unable to visit the fair orders can also be paid for online, using the wish list students bring home and then collected by students at school. For any further information please email me Deborah.bultitude@ed.act.edu.au.

Hi All,
Your children will receive the Scholastic Book Club Catalogue #5 today. Apologies for not getting it out earlier. It is a very quick turn around this time. Online and money orders are due by Tuesday 13th August, so if you are wishing to order, please order online by Tuesday or make sure your orders are handed in to the front office. It says Monday the 12 August on the catalogue itself but I will keep them open till Tuesday. Sorry for any inconvenience.
There has been an incredible amount of books ordered for the Library for all of the students to use this year. Mrs Bultitude consulted with many classes in the school to get a range of books for the Library. So keep on reading and know that all of the books you order from the Scholastic catalogue create great rewards for the Library and your children.
If there are any issues with your order or you have any questions regarding Scholastic, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me: richo77@rocketmail.com
Kind regards,
