Book Fair

We’ve had a fantastic couple of weeks at Evatt Primary School, celebrating both Book Week and our Book Fair.

It was wonderful to see so many families visiting the Book Fair last week and sharing in the excitement of choosing some new books. Books are a wonderful addition to every home, and your support also helps us raise valuable funds that go directly back into supporting our students and school.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited, purchased a book and helped make our Book Fair such a success. We loved seeing our Evatt community come together to celebrate a love of reading!

Ministers Students Congress

We were very fortunate to have four students represent our school at the 2026 Minister’s Student Congress. The Minister’s Student Congress provided an opportunity for ACT public school students to come together to discuss issues which matter to them and affect their education.

This year’s Congress focused on subjects like:

• Artificial Intelligence

• Mental Health Supports

• Strengthening School and Community Connections.

• School Infrastructure and Learning Environments

We look forward to seeing where all the wonderful ideas and feedback head. 

Unstoppable 24

As shared through the portal yesterday, in Week 10 Evatt Primary School will take part in KultureBreak’s Unstoppable 24 Schools Movement Challenge, a national initiative promoting movement, resilience, connection and wellbeing.

KultureBreak has generously supported our Year 3/4 students to participate in Dance Nation at no cost for a number of years, so we’re excited to support this fantastic initiative.

Students are challenged to complete 24 minutes of movement each day for five days, with Mr Hatswell leading a different activity during Break 1 each day.

Fundraising is optional, with no minimum amount required. We’re looking forward to a fun and active Week 10!

Belconnen Athletics Carnival 

Congratulations to all our Evatt students who proudly represented the school at the Belconnen District Athletics Carnival on Tuesday.

Our students gave their best across the day and represented Evatt with fantastic effort, determination and sportsmanship. We were incredibly proud of the way they competed and supported one another.

A special congratulations to the students who achieved outstanding results and have qualified for the ACT Athletics Carnival later this term.

We wish them all the very best at the next level!

Father’s Day Stall

A big thank you to our amazing P&C for organising and running the Father’s Day Stall this week. Our students loved choosing a special gift, which we’re sure was warmly received by dads and special people last Sunday.

Well Done, Evatt! A Fantastic Book Week Celebration

A huge well done to all our students, families and staff for making Book Week 2026 such a vibrant and joyful celebration of reading. The creativity and enthusiasm across the school were outstanding.

🎭 Amazing Costumes

Our Book Week Parade was a true highlight. Students arrived dressed as favourite book characters, showcasing imagination, colour and plenty of personality. From simple, clever outfits to wonderfully detailed creations, every costume helped bring stories to life.

📚 Great Activities Across the School

Throughout the week, students participated in a range of engaging, book themed activities in their multi age groups. Storytelling, art, puzzles, writing challenges and collaborative tasks filled classrooms with excitement and creativity.

🏆Competition Winners

Congratulations to all students who took part in our Book Week competitions. We had an incredible number of thoughtful, imaginative, and high quality entries this year.

Competition winners can collect their prizes this week at the Book Fair. Simply visit the library during Book Fair opening times to claim your reward.

Book Fair 

The Evatt Primary School Scholastic Book Fair is nearly here! Running from Tuesday 1 September to Friday 11 September (Weeks 7 & 8), the Book Fair is our number one fundraiser for the school library and a wonderful opportunity to inspire a love of reading across all year levels.

Opening Times:

• 8:30–9:00am daily

• 3:00–3:45pm daily

Families are warmly invited to visit before or after school to browse a fantastic range of books, stationery, and posters. Every purchase directly supports the growth of our library collection.

📚 Student Wish Lists – Week 7

During Week 7, all students will visit the library and create a Book Fair Wish List. This helps children explore the range of books and items available and share their reading interests with families.

Purchasing Options:

• In person at the library during Book Fair opening times cash or card accepted

• Online, using the payment information printed on your child’s Wish List

If paying online, please write the receipt number on the Wish List and send it back to the library with your child. Mrs Bultitude will then organise the books and items and ensure they are delivered safely to your child.

New This Year: CBCA ACT Annual Book Appeal

Evatt Primary School is proudly participating in the CBCA ACT Annual Book Appeal for the first time. This appeal collects new books for children and young people experiencing difficult circumstances, including those accessing refuges, hospitals, child protection services, and community organisations across the ACT.

A book donation point will be available in the library throughout the Book Fair.

Books suitable for donation include:

• Board books

• Picture books

• Novels and short stories

• Information books

📌 Please note: only new books can be accepted.

Whether our school collects five books or 500, every donation helps place quality literature into the hands of children and young people who need it most.
