Market Day

Well done to our Year 5/6 students for running a fantastic Market Day today! All students at Evatt Primary School had a wonderful time exploring the different stalls and enjoying the activities on offer.

This event was designed and run in conjunction with the Year 5/6 HASS Economics unit of work, giving students a hands-on approach to their learning that they truly enjoyed.

A big thank you to our P&C for supporting the day by running the Special Lunch Order Day BBQ — your contribution helped make the day even more special for everyone.

‘The Evatt Way’ Parent Information Session

Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for our information session last Thursday evening, exploring how teaching and learning happens at Evatt Primary.

During the session, we outlined our student expectations, shared our learning timetable, and unpacked the ways we deliver learning at Evatt PS. We also provided guidance to help families understand our kindergarten routines for 2026, ensuring a smooth transition for our youngest learners.

Reminder - EvattFest 2025 

We are very excited that EvattFest 2025 is approaching fast. Our students have been working hard on their performance rehearsals which we can't wait to see. Some key information below;

• We will be kicking off 5pm, Thursday 4 December, on our enclosed oval. 

• Band and Year level performance times will be sent out soon. These will be a general guide and we encourage families to stay for the duration of EvattFest. 

• Families are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or camp chairs to sit on. If bringing chairs, please set up towards the back of the area to avoid blocking the view of others. 

• This year, we are allowing families to bring 3x3 Gazebos for shade, however these need to strictly be set up against the back fence and pegged down for safety. 

• Food and drinks will be available for purchase however you are also welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. 

• Where possible, we also ask families to walk to the event as parking will be limited.

• Our P&C are providing entertainment for our kids when they are not performing.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

GIANTS Harmony Program

Earlier this week, our school participated in the GIANTS Harmony Program.

The program brought traditional Indigenous knowledge, culture, and practices into our school, helping students develop a deeper understanding of our shared Australian history.

Through interactive workshops, our facilitating partners shared stories of their ancestors, exploring songlines, responsibilities to care for the land, and the interconnection between all living and non-living things. This provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about respect, harmony, and cultural understanding.

Library News 

• Overdue Books Reminder Please keep checking at home and in classrooms for any overdue library books. Returning them promptly helps us prepare for our end-of-year stocktake and ensures everyone has access to our collection.

• Final Week for Borrowing Student borrowing will finish at the end of Week 7, Friday 28 November. This allows us time to sort, shelve, and complete our annual stocktake. Make sure to grab your last reads before then!

• Readers Cup Success

A huge congratulations to our year 5/6 students who represented the school in the Readers Cup competition. They read five novels and competed in a trivia-style challenge against schools from across the ACT — including independent, Catholic, and public schools. We proudly entered two teams, and both worked incredibly hard, reading and studying for the competition and giving up their Friday afternoon to compete. Their dedication paid off: we achieved our goal of making the Top 10 this year!

Well done to all participants (below)  — you showed teamwork, perseverance, and a love of reading. We are so proud of you!
