Book Week – Next Week! 

Next week we will be celebrating Book Week at Evatt Primary School, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic week of books, characters and fun!

Students and staff are encouraged to embrace the spirit of Book Week by dressing up as one of their favourite book characters for our celebration to be held next Friday.

We’ll kick off with our fabulous Book Week Parade, followed by a fun rotation of multi aged activities for students to enjoy.

Families are warmly invited to come along and join us for the parade which will be on the multi starting at 9.15am. We look forward to seeing everyone there and celebrating another fantastic Book Week at Evatt!

Reminder – Early Birds 

What better way to get into the spirit of Book Week than with a visit to Early Birds!

Early Birds is open to all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and runs every morning from 8:30–9:00am in our school library.

Students can enjoy some quiet reading or share a book with one of our teachers, support staff or parent volunteers.

Each visit is recorded on an Early Birds card, and once students complete their card, they earn a special bird badge to celebrate their commitment to reading.

With Book Week just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to come along, grab a book and join our Early Birds!

Belconnen Athletics Carnival 

Congratulations to all our Evatt students who proudly represented the school at the Belconnen District Athletics Carnival on Tuesday.

Our students gave their best across the day and represented Evatt with fantastic effort, determination and sportsmanship. We were incredibly proud of the way they competed and supported one another.

A special congratulations to the students who achieved outstanding results and have qualified for the ACT Athletics Carnival later this term.

We wish them all the very best at the next level!

Winter Illness Reminder 

With winter well and truly upon us, we are continuing to see a range of colds, flu and other illnesses circulating within our school community.

A friendly reminder that if your child is unwell, please keep them at home until they are feeling better and well enough to participate fully in the school day. 

This not only gives them the time they need to rest and recover, but also helps reduce the spread of illness to other students and staff. Thank you to all our families for helping us keep our Evatt community healthy.

Book Week – Coming Up in Week 6!

Book Week is nearly here, and we’re excited to celebrate a full week of reading, imagination and creativity with our students. This year’s festivities will run throughout Week 6, with a range of activities designed to bring stories to life across the school. Celebrating a Love of Reading

Book Week is a wonderful opportunity for students to:

• Explore new stories

• Celebrate favourite characters

• Work creatively with peers

• Build confidence through reading and imagination

Book Week Competitions – Opening Week 5

Our Book Week competitions will open in Week 5, giving students plenty of time to enter before judging. Winners will be announced at the Parade Assembly on Friday 28 August.

Dress Up Parade – Friday 28 August (Week 6)

Our Book Week Dress Up Parade will be held on Friday 28 August. Students are invited to come dressed as a character from any book.

A reminder for families: Costumes do not need to be purchased or complicated. Many beloved book characters wear everyday clothes, and simple, creative ideas are absolutely encouraged. Now is a great time to start thinking about costume options that suit your child and your household.

After the parade, students will join multi age groups for a full day of fun, hands on activities inspired by books and storytelling.

Book Fair – Weeks 7 & 8

The excitement continues with our annual Book Fair, running across Weeks 7 and 8. Families will be able to browse a wide range of books and support our school library.
