Day 1: I arrived at the GDC mid-afternoon after my flight was delayed from Dallas. My hotel was a few blocks away from the convention center. When I got there my friends were already waiting for me and ready to take me around the convention. We headed to the Ringling booth table. We saw Jamie. He told us to check out the Insomniac table because they were giving out internships and portfolio reviews. Later in the day I visited the Unreal Engine booth. They unveiled the New Nintendo Switch and the new Kingdom Hearts game. I ended up speaking to a few people there and showed them my portfolio. While taking a short break to sit with friends, a lady who worked at Naughty Dog came by to look at our portfolios. It was Then after she left, students from DigiPen and California Arts came by and took a look at our portfolios. The students at the other schools said they liked the style and amazed of the work load we do in our school.Later, I sat in on the Substance Painter tutorial review. I took many notes.Afterwards, my friends and I headed to the Alumni party at Red Dog Restaurant. We met many people there. We were surprised seeing Jason Bennet there. It was cool to see him again.
Day 2: I went to the Insomniac booth again. They looked at my portfolio. We discussed what they liked and disliked about it. They gave me good ideas on what I needed to improve in my portfolio. Later, I was able to go to the Oculus booth and played the virtual reality games. It was really awesome to play the racing game that was a arcade model of a car. After that I head to the bookstore to buy couple of material books: Understanding Virtual reality book, Unreal Engine tutorial for Programmers and a Resident Evil art book. Later, Evan and I found Jim walking round. We told Jim about a really cool virtual reality cockpit simulator. We started to walk there, but Jim spotted the Substance Painter booth. They were giving out free Substance T-Shirts. Jim looked so excited when he got the shirt. Then we head to the booth with the virtual cockpit simulator. It was made by a company in Korea. Later, I was invited to a party by Zynga. That night I walked there with friends. There was lots of food and drinks for everybody. I talk with a lot people who work there, as well as other students interested in the same major as me.
Day 3: As I walked around and found myself at the Facebook booth. They were giving out free T-shirts and party passes. I got the pass from the Facebook booth and asked questions about their internship program for mobile games. Afterwards, I walked around and saw more internship programs that were open. One company was from Tampa. They worked on Adventure Quest. Later, I was able to play Survios Virtual reality game. I played Sprint Vector. The controls were motion controlled and it gave me a work out. Finally, I went up to the bookstore and bought my last book, Rigging book, before I left the convention and went to the Facebook party.
