Cream Wolf is primarily a top down driving game made by Pixeljam and Messhof hosted on Adult Swim. and of course the the implications of being on Adult Swim hold true for this game as well; an ordinary driving game wouldn't be worth AS's time, but a driving game where you play an ice cream selling werewolf fattening up the neighborhood children so that you could them and turn them into more ice cream runs right up Adult Swim's alley of interest. Avoiding traffic, timing keystrokes and managing your time wisely are all part of the game.... as well as feeding children ice cream made out of children.
The majority of the game is engaged in one of two activities: driving or serving.
The driving portion of the game has you navigating the streets of small towns avoiding traffic, collecting ice cream cones (scattered around the map) or attracting children to your truck with your catchy little tune. While driving around, you have to watch your clock, you only have so many hours in a day to sell your goods and only two days between every full moon. Whilst trawling for customers, wisdom dictates looking for large groupings of children; unfortunately, though, you can only sell as many ice creams as you have ice cream cones. Ice cream cones are spread all around the maps, and collecting them is another task that you have to force into your busy schedule. If you do collect fifty ice cream cones at once, you gain a boost in speed ( and if you collect one hundred you receive a super speed boost). Watch out though, running into other cars will cost you lives.
While driving: use the arrow keys to navigate and hold down the X key to play your tune to attract customers.
The serving portion of the game is intertwined with the driving portion of the game. Whenever you attract children to you truck. You enter a darkened game screen. At the bottom of the screen is an empty ice cream cone; above it, is a continuously rotating wheel of ingredients with a visual representation of the product desired by the child being served. On the path of the rotating wheel can be from one, up to three boxes, each calling for a different key to stack the ice cream in their respective cones. The faster and more accurate you stack the cones, the fatter and more loyal your customers become. Later levels, you will be able to serve more children at once and different ice creams.
The controls while serving ice Cream : Z key, X key, C key to stack ice cream cones; and left and right arrow keys to change the direction that the wheel of ingredients spins.
Their is one last activity in this game not before mentioned: luring in and devouring the your loyal customers. At the end of the second day in each cycle, instead of being sent back to your home, you'll be able to attract your now ravenous customers to you truck using your catchy tune. Once satisfied with the amount of children you've collected, you lead them back to your hideout- where you turn into your werewolf form and devour them. Depending on how many you eat, you may be rewarded with extra lives and new flavors of ice cream made of the spare body parts of your victims ( like chocolate hip, brain freeze, knee-opolitan and kidney stone road). Beware while you chase down your victims, though, cops lurk about and will stop your rampage at all costs.
The same controls apply as when you drive around. Except when you are in wolf form, X makes you howl and temporarily stuns your victims.
The art of Cream Wolf is made to emulate the classic 8-bit games, and is part of Adult Swim's "8-bit Rejects." All graphics and animations are made in a pixelated style. The music in the game is very tinny, in another attempt to emulate the 8-bit days of old. During the normal phases when you drive around, the music is rather cheery and upbeat. However, when it comes a full moon, the music drops into an extremely eerie tone.
