Simon Mills graduated high school in 1999. In Feburary 2001, he received a diploma of Television/Film Makeup artistry. He then graduated in 2003 from Vancouver Film School with an honored diploma in computer generated imagery and animation. From 2003 to 2007, Mills was employed at Raven Studios as a senior technical artist. From 2007 to the present, he has worked as a freelance artist for clients such as Pegasus Productions IV, Liquid Development, and Renkewitz Studios. He works primarily as a modeler, rigger, and animator.
Mills' work tends to lean towards realism, with a bit of stylization. He focuses almost completely on production art rather than concept art. His work has involved modeling, texturing, scripting, rigging, animating, and porting.
Mills was responsible for rigging and animating characters and then scripting them into the Doom 3 engine, as well as modeling and texturing assets for the game. The above video briefly shows some of his animation, including the large spider-like creature at 0:30.
Mills modeled and textured multiple civilians for Fable 2.
Mills was responsible for modeling and texturing first person arms for Hellgate: London.
Mills helped remake the models and textures for the PS3 version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
Mills, in a small team, built and designed the levels for Xmen Origins: Wolverine. In addition to modeling, he helped set up the shaders, effects, and physics.
