Trap Master is a game made by Berzerk Studio back in 2009. In the game you play as a monster guarding your chest of doom, in you lair. As it always goes the villagers who live around your lair don't like you or your chest of doom so they are constantly swarming your lair to try and destroy your chest of doom. Your mission as a monster is to protect what is yours and kill the humans so they can't do anything to hurt your chest of doom.
In the begining of the game you are given the choice of two monsters to play as (there is a third mystery pick but you have to unlock it at some point) There are no indications that one is better than the other, you just are given the choice between a 'slug' monster and a 'bug' monster.
After this the game begins and you are lead through a short tutorial about how the game works while you go through the first wave of humans. It is also in this stage that you are informed that after each round you are awarded money that you can buy traps with, at the begining you start off with zero dollars. Also in the middle you can see the level of damage your doom chest has taken, and then off to the side there is a map with small blinking dots that indicate where the villagers are. There also a few types of villagers/Weapons:- Normal Small Villagers/Knights
- Large Villagers/Knights
- Wizard (s)
- Catapults
When each wave is done you are given a certain amount of money depending on your score during the wave, you are then allowed to buy traps to set into your lair at certain spots. Besides buying new traps you can also spend money on upgrading current traps you have, fixing your chest of doom, making your chest of doom stronger, or making your monster stronger. I think now would also be a good time to note that your monster is never attacked by the villagers, your monster's life or death depends on the amount of damage the Chest of Doom gets. There is also a chance food item that might appear during a wave and gives you awesome monster fury that makes you stronger for a short while.
The game controls are the normal ones either you use the arrow keys to move/jump or you use W-A-S-D
Because your monster does have powers to shoot villagers simply hold your mouse over them and click.
The art is pretty styalized and while I wouldn't say it is completely simple it is not very complex either. I think it was designed to resemble an older game, but the fact that blood squirts out whenever you eat a human I think it pretty funny. I do enjoy the art though and think it fits well with the overall feel of the game as something disturbing yet comical at the same time.
