The whole point of the game was to get to the top of the level, to the golden bird at the top; all while avoiding the monsters along the way. The game was created in 1983 and was originally published by Konami as an arcade game. The game was also released for the Atari 2600, and the ColecoVision.

Other Games in Series:
The game originated in Japan. The game first allowed the player to follow something that the player themselves created.
Color contrast was very well planned out throughout the game. There is however, no real difference in the level layout, just a few more levels to move up every time.
The controls are pretty solid. Aiming the "speargun" has no real need, it's either you aim right or left. There is no elevation change when aiming the gun, it's at a constant 45 degree angle.
Controls
The controls were solid as far as playing the game went. The controller was an 8 way control stick, with one button; which was used for firing the "speargun."
Main Character- an archeologist that is equipped with a flashlight and harpoon gun.
Phoenix Bird- The prize possession, achieved after each level
Monsters- cavemen looking creatures and man-sized dinosaurs try to prevent you from getting to the bird at the top.
Visual
The visual art is appealing to an extent, at least as far as an 8-bit game goes. The character design goes together well with the idea of the game. The 2D platformer brings together the best of the platformers before them.
Very simple, 8-bit sound. Bring out the primal feeling of the game.
