Born on the city of Niigata, he always worked in mangas collaborating with the art, working in teams of two (writer and artist) he worked on many best-selling mangas, being recognized by his great art style.
He wasn't as fortunate in the game area, after working as a character designer on the game: "Castlevania Judgement" he was critcized a lot by making the characters too similar as the Death Nothe characters.
Artist of Death Note and Hikaru no Go, Mangas that became an Anime, both were published by Shonen Jump (same that published Dragonball, One Piece, Naruto...).
Most the series he worked were high praised and well known, in special Death Note.
He was always considered a great artist, he usually work on series that involve in thinking and mind games rather than action and fighting series.
He was asked by Konami to create the characters designs for Castlevania Judgement. The reception of his work for this game wasn't the best compared to his other works, people said that Castlevania Judgement looks like much more Death Note than Castlevania and that he couldn't capture the nature and style of Castlevania series.
Most Gaming websites gave the game bad grades (bad cameras, lame fights and unbalanced characters were critcized the most) and all of them made jokes relating Death Note with Castlevania.
